SX30 IS, when is memory sticky or not?

SX30 IS, when is memory sticky or not?

I've played with my machine enough to realize there's a scheme that the firmware programmer had in mind but the user guide didn't convey clearly. A call to Canon made me realize that the help desk didn't really know as well. A shame, really, because the SX30 is a marvelous piece of programming work and it took LOTS of playing with it, switching modes, changing settings, turning the unit OFF, then ON, and taking notes before coming to certain conclusions.

I don't pretend that the following table exactly represents what happens when storing families of settings (C1 and C2) and how all those other modes react at shutdown, Reset All, etc. But it's the way I see things -- so far.

Let me know what you think. Len Miller.

Care to re-word this. I haven't the "foggiest" what this is all about. I'm sorry for my ignorance.

Sorrrreeeeee!!!!

My apologies. That table is actually only a piece of a 4 sheet field guide that I'm getting ready to post here. I concede that it's like deciding what an elephant looks like when seeing only a small patch of his skin.

I'll post that field guide, probably tomorrow.

Len,

I certainly do have a strong interest in the programing of these cameras and would like to know more. What was your initial objective?

Re: SX30 IS, when is memory sticky or not?

Hi Bill,

I hope this will clarify my interest. Not long ago I posted here for some help on my newly purchased Powershot SX30 IS. Any books, guides, etc. Nothing like that was available, I learned, but there was a laminated Cheat Sheet that I bought. While that contains a huge amount of references, I ended up becoming more frustrated than helped as I failed to see the navigation logic behind it. When I'm out in the field I also don't want to have to swim thru a 196 page manual either.

I decided to create for myself what I call a "Field Guide for Canon Powershot SX30 IS Camera", sheets 1 thru 4. Printed to 8 1/2 x 11, they can be folded to fit into a pocket of my carrying case. I intend to have the full Canon guide with me nearby (in the car trunk) if needed. Canon promised to send that and I continue to patiently await that as well.

I then thought that there is no sense keeping this Field Guide under a rock as it may help other SX30 users as well so I decided to attach all 4 PDF files for your downloading convenience.

Well, I'm not quite ready to upload those as there are a few more edits to make. I will try to post them all tomorrow under heading "My Field Guide for Powershot SX30 IS".
Cheers, Len Miller.
