Thanks for the news. My feeling is that we are going to see more partnerships appear as the convergence of phones and cameras take place. You know for instance the links between lens makers and camera makers such as Panasonic and Leica. I wonder who will be the first big Japanese camera maker into this area? Or will it be Korean? Even my web cam has a Zeiss lens. Personally don't uses my phone camera due to the menu searching for it and the poor quality images but this is changing fast. Will we see a Nokia-Nikon a Cassio-Canon or an Apple-Fujifilm one day?

I want a flashlight on my camera

Does it have a flashlight? Don't see one. The news article says it's a standard strobe. Hard to find your car in a dark parking light with a strobe.

I use the flashlight on my cellphone much more than the voice calling feature.

An LED light is really useful for low-light video and better than nothing (though not as good as strobe) for low-light photos.

An Android app for that is surely available.

Good cyclists are:
Visible, Predictable, Alert, Assertive and Courteous

They also use the five layers of protection available.
Layer 1: Control your bike (Don't fall or collide with others)
Layer 2: Follow the rules (Don't be the cause of traffic crashes)
Layer 3: Use Lane position (Discourage other drivers mistakes)
Layer 4: Hazard Avoidance (Avoid other drivers mistakes and road hazards)
Layer 5: Utilize passive protection (Use protection when all else fails)

Yes, friends have "flashlight" apps that light the screen pure white.

However because the camera points the opposite direction, it won't help for video.

Apple made the right design decision on the iPhone, with LED pointing the same way as the camera.
