Re: How many are still using a 300D?

I have the Canon 10D which is fundamentally the same camera. I find that if you shoot raw, the current raw converters like Raw Therapee 4 and Lightroom 4 are able to extract much more quality from the raw files. In fact, in terms of image quality at low ISO's, the 6 meg CMOS sensor can hold it own quite well against any modern DSLR when used with a good lens.

Both shot with Canon 10D and 50mm F:1.8 lens. Top raw file edited with Sagelight Image Editor, Bottom, Lightroom 3.

Haven't touched mine in many many years, the battery door broke on it so i moved to a 30D, then upgraded to a 7D last year. Loved that camera though. Good to see you Bro.

Re: How many are still using a 300D?

There is a BUT in here somewhere because I never went to the original Rebel, instead I had already purchased a 10D. If I had waited until the Rebel and the hacked firmware upgrade I might have gone that route instead.

My next DSLR was the XTi and then the T2i. I gave the T2i to my oldest daughter who had an XTi which she in turn gave to my youngest daughter. I then purchased a T3i which I have now.

BUT, my youngest son and his wife inherited a Rebel from her parents and they are using and loving every moment with it.

I found the 10D too heavy for my arthritic wrists and the XTi was just right.

With each successive upgrade I toyed with the idea of using a previous camera as a backup. Still have the orignal DRebel, the 300D...but ...have not touched it for the last 6 to 7 years.

I am wondering who is still using this fine camera?
