Thanks, I'm very glad I thought twice before I handed it over to dealer where I bought it, as they would have ended up sending it across the country to have it fixed.

What did the repair centre do exactly?

Thx

They calibrated it against a calibrated reference lens.

I tried another body at the dealer but it was just as bad. So getting a replacementwas not an option (they only had two in stock).

If in doubt, get yours checked, it is free of charge in the warranty period.

BTW: This is my fourth d7k, and the only one with inacurate af.

So if they "calibrated" it against a reference lens, is it now "calibrated" for all other lenses?
The body is checked/calibrated with the reference lens first. After that, any other lens should be within specs. If not, then the lens itself is calibrated.

Sounds like the OP had two lenses out of whack which sort of points to the body at fault. His may have been a simple mirror adjustment. I suspect there are D7000 bodies out there that need fixing. Mine went in for gross over-exposure that suddenly occurred after a couple of months with the metering, and came back with a bunch of focus tuning stuff too on the repair invoice. I didn't mention focus issues, but they picked up on it in their shop.

Fwiw, most all of my lenses vary from + to - 6 on the AF tuning. My newest (14-24mm f/2.8) needed something on the order of -30 which is beyond the range of the camera's adjustments. Lens went in since I feared another copy would be as bad, might need some updated bits, and to see what their service could do with it. They sent it back in a week and it is at zero correction now. Good job Nikon service!
