Bird with EF-S 60. Warning: RED!

I set up my tripod with EOS 50D mounted with my EF-S 60 to see whether the macro lens would be able to resolve fine feather detail. I planted a branch beside the feeder and many birds take advantage of that for making sure the coast is clear before getting into the feeder. The focus was on manual, and photos were taken with a remote control.

This Eurasian Bullfinch was the best subject captured on the first trial (mainly due to not focusing which made that most pictures were out of focus). The red wall of the garage is not the ideal background for this bird :).

Nice collection indeed! I particularly like the waxwing "caught in the act" and the owl, is it a short-eared? The flying jay is very nice too.

What gear did you use?

Fantastic captures :)

Yes, I guess that says it all! Love the birds: the Waxwing tossing in a blueberry is just a delight to behold!
Thanks for sharing these beauties, Tom.

Exotic looking stork! I think the little yellow 'white-eye' is my favorite of this fine set. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Indian Birds

Another great set. I love the quality of the light in the first ones: very warm... probably evening light.

Did the Grey Heron actually get that fish down? I saw Great Blue Heron once struggle with a gigantic fish it tried to swallow for at least fifteen minutes but finally had to let it flop back into the water: just too big!
Thanks for sharing these!
