When the zoom feature is fully extended, do you need a tripod or is shaking not an issue.

I have a superzoom sx110 is and with the superzoom in full, if you shake its useless.

Re: Canon Sx 230/220 Zoom

I've never considered a tripod with my SX230 and I shoot lots at full zoom.

Re: Canon Sx 230/220 Zoom

What matters is how steady your hands are and how long the exposure is. This is dependent on the user's body/hand stability and the lighting conditions, so there is no simple answer to your question.

It would be like asking, "What size and thickness of gloves should I buy for my daughter?"

Outdoors on a sunny day, not having had too many cups of coffee and with careful, deliberate, steady holding, you probably won't need a tripod; the IS alone will do. In all other scenarios your are taking a risk shooting at the full tele position and a tripod might be in order.

Is that a statement or a question?

Re: Canon Sx 230/220 Zoom

I didnt phrase it properly, the question should have been with the zoom fully extended to its maximum, would a tripod be required, or is just hand held sufficient ??
