D700 does not support 16 or 32 GB memory cards (?)
32GB Transcend 600x cards work fine on the D3 and D700 in my past experiences....
Has anyone and an "ERR" message come up on the screen while shooting? .... and then in a couple of minutes it clears up and I can resume. It has only happened twice, so far, and only with a Delkin 16G UDMA6 card. I don't know if that card is the culprit, or? I was not shooting particularly fast, just doing some landscape work but may have bracketed 2 or 3 shots fairly quickly which has never been a problem before, in RAW. Thanks for any input on the ERR error message.
Ernie- I had a problem last spring with a Lexar 600X 8GB-- That message came up and nothing worked. The photos were unable to open and it was all screwy- My son was able to recover most of the photos, and I reformatted the card and all seems well. However, I have never felt I could trust it again. ?? I have no idea to this day what went wrong. I had the camera at one point on the truck door and gently shut the door when I got out, but I cannot think of anything else I might of done. ??? Shoot too fast? I would think not ??
I've had one problem with my Lexar 16gb 300x.
Camera Control Pro 2 won't recognize the camera if this card is in it. Software recognizes camera with 2gb and 4gb. And camera shoots fine untethered with 16gb. Go figure.
Just got the SanDisk Extreme Pro 16GB CF card ($60 from Adorama!) and it works fine in the D700.
I have four SanDisk Extreme 60 MB/s 16GB cards that I rotate on my D700.They work for me and I have never had any problem.
Based on the contributions here, I'm thinking I might add a SanDisk 32GB card. At some point these smaller cards are going to disappear. I also think that shooting RAW on a 16GB card holds a lot of images. Perhaps it is time to get a few more of the 16GB cards...
Compatible is something only Nikon can answer and as we have all seen they only report up to 8GB. If you have an account, find the D700 Card Compatibility and say NO it wasn't helpful and you can request that they update the information since you can still buy a D700 and the Compact Flash technology marches forward.
Many problems turn out to be a lack of intimate knowledge of complex modern camera equipment.
I also use a 32GB card with the D700 without problem. Mine is a transcend 133x 32GB, I think.
Yes to 16GB Cards & D700. I have four 16GB SanDisk Extreme cards that I rotate out. They work.
