D700 does not support 16 or 32 GB memory cards (?)

I was thinking about a bigger card than the 8 GB card that I currently use with my D700, and happened to come across this:

http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16657

This page is a description of the latest firmware available for the D700. The second bullet item in the description of what changed says:

Support for 64 GB memory cards has been added.
(16GB, 32GB are not supported, 64GB only)

This seems weird to me, but the language there is crystal clear.

Has anyone actually used a 16GB or 32GB card successfully with a D700?

I use 16 gig CF cards ALL the time in my D-700 and know others that use 32 gig CF cards in their D-700.

D700 does support 16GB and 32 GB memory cards

Yes, the language is clear, but is also clearly mistaken.

If you have any personal doubts, they are completely unfounded. The D700 supports 16GB and 32GB CF cards completely.

I confirm that the D700 supports a 32GB card.

Supported is different than working. The D700 certainly works with 16 and 32gb CF cards.

I use 16g Lexar cards with no trouble. I have not tried a 32g card yet.

It DOES

I use 16GB and 32GB on my D700 without problem

Type I card only.
The old fatty type II doesn't fit the slot

Re: It DOES

Slightly off topic but with my 8Gb Lexar cards holding 300 top quality nef files I do not feel the need to get a larger card, I will just insert a further 8Gb card so all my eggs are not in one basket, I know this is an old approach but I am old

I use 16GB Extreme and 16GB Transcend 600x with no probs. I remember that a recent firmware update claims to enable 64GB support for the D700 so we could assume that 16 and 32 are also addressed.

The OP's question was that in the referenced Nikon write up about the firmware update Nikon specifically say the while 64GB is supported 16 and 32 are not. All this means is that if you have problems with 16 and 32 gig cards you cannot expect any sympathy from Nikon. In practice Nikon have probably not tested any 16 or 32 Gig cards so cannot guarantee they will work.

Re: It DOES

So am I (being old) but I use 16 GB on the D3S and 32 GB on D700, especially when covering sports where I may shoot up to 2000 shots. If the card(s) fail, it is no big deal as I cover a season with the school I provide coverage for, so losing a game isn't a big deal. BTW, I have never lost a shoot in six years of shooting sports.
