D800 postponed until Apil 4, 2012!

Check this guide to Nikon D800 the release date is in April 2012:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Obtenez-maximum-du-Nikon-D800/dp/2100541021/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317305163&sr=8-1

Obtenez le maximum du Nikon D800 [Hardcover]
Jean-Baptiste Guges

Publisher: Dunod (4 April 2012)

The book has been postponed all this year.

I am quick losing patience with Nikon. For the past 3years photographers have been shooting amazing films with the 5Dii and for the same price as a D700!
What do Nikon do is bring out some joke camera called the V1/J1!

I am very tempted to off load my Nikon gear on ebay and buy the 5DII.

...and????...

if you want to make movies, buy a camera that can do it...

now, go asking the pros if they are, by any margin, unhappy with their d3, d3x/s?

none of them... because they beat the monkeys of canon... and by a fair margin!

So why don't you guys just go to Canon?

Every day there is someone complaining on how Nikon isn't providing the D800 and then threaten to leave for another brand - as if that will make Nikon speed things up. If you guys are so upset with Nikon - LEAVE! It's not that hard. Be a man about it, sell your Nikon gear and go to another brand. It seems you are willing to do that - so do it.

But to constantly whine about Nikon not providing what you want, is ridiculous!

Cheers,

Re: D800 postponed until Apil 4, 2012!

You could be a bit more happier by just going out and shooting some nice pictures. It seriously sounds stupid when everyone just curses Nikon for not doing what THEY want, and that Canon has the edge over only one thing.

Even Canon users also wants a 5D III release too with a lot of substantial improvements [like better video, noise control, more AF points (some examples)]... their situation is the same as nikon photographers waiting for this "d4/D800/D400"...

so i see no point why people keep whining about it -.- just go out, shoot pictures and be happy.

Re: So why don't you guys just go to Canon?

Please sell your 18-55 and your 55-200 and switch to Canon you child.

If you actually took pictures and owned real glass, switching would not be a sensible option. Especially for the 5DMII... which is just as old as anything Nikon has. Are you people really that illogical? No one knows when Canon or Nikon will release the next FF. Switching would be a waste of money if you actually had any significant investment.

Dip.

Go ahead and switch. If Canon makes the camera you want, then you should go buy it. If you want/need to sell your Nikon gear to fund a Canon system, then so be it.

Bitching about Nikon's release schedule isn't going to do anything at all (positive). However, switching to Canon and boosting their sales might pressure Nikon to speed things up a bit. That's just competition, and it's generally good for the rest of us who like Nikon but are in no hurry.

Maybe not. But there is a damn valid reason!

What you might not know is that the Sendai is home to Nikon’s flagship manufacturing facility — the plant that produces Nikon’s professional DSLRs (e.g. D3s, D3x and D700 ). It is my understanding that this city of over 1 million people is struggling with many, many issues. I also believe that part of this plant was shipped to Malaysia and all of the machinery from their professional camera factory in Sendai, Japan to a new factory in Malaysia. All this takes time.

The D800 was originally scheduled for summer/fall of 2011.

Is that so? And according to Thom Hogan, the d800 was supposed to come out Spring 2010. All just guesses in the wind. The d300/d3 are due up for replacement before the d700 though.

Re: D800 postponed until Apil 4, 2012!

Hopefully, this is not true but if it is then Nikon will have a substantial problem as the 5D MKIII could well be released in 2011. And yes, I would seriously consider it in the cirumstances. What really surprises me though is why Nikon has not released a D700s with the D3s sensor plus updates and maybe a few more pixels. If indeed the 'new technologies' of the V1/J1 have been developed over several years then surely they have already been tried and tested in new semi-pro/pro cameras.

Re: D800 postponed until Apil 4, 2012!

Caribou,

I understand your frustration: as a previous salesman of cameras, I get that all the time.

Every opportunity i had to loan GEAR from our west-coast representatives I took. And I'll tell u, i've used EVERY manufacture's body and nothing beats the D700 for size/performance/image-quality. Bias put aside, I'll shoot anything that works well for my job.

Re-visit your intention throughly (as I always tell my loyal customers) before your make a lens/camera body purchase, because it's costly!

To cure my craving for good video performance, I've incorporated the D7000 with my D700. Video in vimeo is harder than you think it to be: follow-focus, stabilizer, glider, tripod with fluid pan head, mic, Zoom recorder: the list goes on. Don't forget the cutting/post-editing on your software of choice.

The 5D mark 2 is excellent, and I love it. But if u shoot with a 1d mark 4 before for stills, the 5D becomes lacking in AF and etc. That's where the D700 bridges the gap nicely (minus the video). We cant have it all: just keep waiting, maybe your urgency may reside and you'll be rewarded with Nikon's next FX with decent video.

The Old Man,
AmatureMike.

Actually, this announcement convinced me to go ahead and order the D3X which I've just done....no D800 for me, no Canon for me.

Guesses in the wind , or maybe everybody is right - my best bet is that Nikon has had at least 1 and maybe 2 "d800" out for testing that for different reasons didnt make it to market. I personally know one photographer who had a "d800" (griples D3x basically) in fall 2009.

The d300/d3 are due up for replacement before the d700 though.

The D300 and D3 was replaced 2 years ago.

Not really, they just got an "s" with very minimal updates. d300 got what, 1 more fps and 720 video while the d3s got a new sensor better at high ISO and 720 video too. Aside from that the rest is all 4 years old. Any time I've seen a sales listing, the d300s is low if on it at all. It's not selling because it is essentially an old camera. New buyers are lured to newer lower end models by Nikon and other brands.

You wouldn't like to give a hint of what lenses you'll be off loading, would you? I'm particularly interested in the 200mm macro....
