Trying the new Topaz BW add in.

My first trial with the new software (purchased this morning). Got the effect I was looking for almost immediately. Seems like nice stuff.

The eyes don't look natural...

The inner part of the irises are too bright compared to the outer part, at least when you compare it to the color original. Seems too artificial to me. Combined with the lack of detail in the B&W shot's skin, and it looks more like a doll instead of a baby...

I would agree about the eyes PRW, but the skin is the way I wanted it. After all, we think she is a doll.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I was sidetracked last month with triple by-pass open heart surgery so my skills are somewhat rusty. I am in the process of trying to "get back into shape." (In more ways than one).

Took your advice.

Tried to lessen the contrast in the iris and added some grain to the face. Hope you approve.

Jack -

I had a quadruple 2 1/2 years ago; welcome to the zipper club!

Walk as much as you can, and, when your Dr tells you it's ok, go to cardiac rehab religiously. Most of all, be patient; it takes a while til you feel 100% again, but it does come back!

That said, nice image, and nice bw conversion. I just bought it myself, but haven't really had time to play yet.

Loren

Thanks Loren for your encouragement and kind words. I had my surgery in Salisbury MD and I live near Knoxville, TN. Just got home on Friday and have yet to see my local cardiologist. What he says, I will do (including the rehab). Thanks again.

Re: Took your advice.

Just use the local adjustment brush to darken the eyes a bit.
Or use a the dodge and burn tool in PS.

I had, what is referred to as a “widow maker” back in July 2009. I was given six months to live but so far so good. I really can’t do much in the way of photography anymore but playing around with the post processing seems to keep me going. For the bucks, Topaz seems like a great deal. I am trying out Nik which I much prefer, for the introductory price Topaz B&W and a sale price on Silver Effects 2.0 at Adorama. I will buy both.
Best,
Tommy

Nice work, Jack.

I had triple bypass 11 years ago -- took me about a year to really feel 100% OK. Stay with it!
