Re: Any 28mm f/2 lens recommendation?

One of the most compact (smaller than kit zoom anyway) NEX adapter + MF lens pair which will cost less than kindle is when Pentax 28/3.5 (Super Tak) is mounted on M42 screw. With some light and fancy adapter it feels more 'proper' to me than when 'small' and IMO overpriced RF lens is attached if style is your concern;-)

And you dont need to make any compromises wrt lens controls, like aperture ring missing (in some great Contax lenses) or the need to pp all pictures to fix something by default.

Anyway, with NEX ISO capabilities I would definitely recomend it despite being 3.5;)

There are some other longer (35, 37) and faster you can get as well, still paying less than for single quality RF lens...

Yeah, I saw one going sub $200 recently, could be the same one. I didn't bid since I already have it, but was curious how much it would fetch. I want to locate one of 24mm on the cheap, do you happen to have 24/2.8 and if so how is it?

The Konica AR 28mm f3.5 is quite common and cheap used, and the Konica-> NEX adapter is short. Does anyone have experience with this lens?

they sometimes go dressed as: Kiron, Ricoh, or Vivitar;
another strange brand is Miranda A 28/2 - no experience
with this one,

I just picked one up (28/3.5).... along with the Takumar 35mm F3.5 to try out. So it is interesting you say that.

But... I have to wait for my 5N to arrive! Darn!

Re: Any 28mm f/2 lens recommendation?

Hello, I'm reading this topic because I'm a camera enthusiast regardless of the specific brands. I was looking for more information about the upcoming NEX7, then I stumbled upon your topic.

Right now I have 2 very nice samples of the Vivitar 28mm f/2 Close Focus lens. My lens is the 'Komine' built version, definitely not the Kiron version, which is known for it's sticky aperture blades.

I have 2 of these lenses. I was really looking for this specific lens because of some raving reviews. Just a few days after finally getting one on Ebay (in Canon FD mount) I finally found one in my own native Pentax-K mount. So the FD version is for sale by now.

I haven't put any effort in selling this on Ebay because It's a very sharp lens and people told me never to sell great manual glass.

Since I have 2 of these gems right now you are free to make me an offer.

I live in The Netherlands, so I can ship it to Germany pretty fast if you want to.

I had a both the 24mm f2 (the holy grail of FDn) and the 24mm f2.8 and both had bad bushings so I returned them. I paid a lot for them and I don't like any play in my focus ring; it bugs me.

Never tested them myself but from what I gather online, the FDn 24mm F2 is god. Good luck finding a mint copy under $500-600. So too close in cost to my ZM 25mm (another god lol) so I'm out of the hunt for this fine lens.

Regarding the FDn 24mm f2.8...I read a review/report from a M43 forum that convinced me enough that this lens has poor contrast. I also read an old film test from another site that indicated just average contrast overall. I don't like lenses with low contrast so I'm not actively trying to acquire this lens. My Zeiss ZM 25mm covers this FL but I'd like a cheaper alternative for traveling.

Minolta AF 28/f2

It was never cheap, but its one of the best 28/2 lenses ever made and arguably the best in Minolta/Sony A mount.

This is reproduction of old TLR look and feel with it on NEX-3

Re: Minolta AF 28/f2

There was a great f2.0 range in the minolta af line:

28mm f2.0

35mm f2.0

100mm f2.0

All exceptionally good and compact. Without hesitation usable at f2.0.

It is possible to focus them manually. But with the LA-EA2 adapter you have fast autofocus.

Fast lenses are not compact. The compact minolta designs in combination with the adapter are not much bigger than most other fast lenses.

Unfortunately they are rare and expensive in the second hand market.

You can find more information and image samples in the lens database at dyxum.com.
