Sonyalpharumors back soon :)

You all will have noticed that google marks this website as “dangerous”. There have been a hack attempt tonight we solved very quickly. The problem is google blocked the website. I asked google to reaccept the website but sadly google will need a the whole day to reaccept the website. In summary, SonyAlphaRumors is a safe website but it’s google that is very slow in updating their servers!

Well it's not safe if it's easily hacked, is it?

The fact that a-mount lenses are still worth any money at all is thanks to the success of SLT.

By running a well known CRM/Blog system your open to attacks exploiting faults in that. That can also go for the webserver, database server and other parts that forms a website. Usually such malicious work is done by a program that make a websearch after a certain software version that the creators have found an exploitable flaw in - then exploit that flaw and put in whatever code they want to spread.

So it is not targeted towards SAR in particular, neither anything Sony for that matter. Just because they ran a particular software that had a flaw in that particular version.

I've experienced the same a couple of times when not upgrading the software ran on one of the companys servers.

I picked up the trojan FakeAV from there last night - identified and quarantined by AVG but not before it trashed my Internet Explorer so no web access from that PC at the moment.

I got the MS Removal Tool virus, I went to bleepingcomputer.com one thing they suggested to reset my IE (and Google chrome) was the following:
Right Click in the IE icon (assuming you have one on your desktop).
Click on the connections tab.
Click on the Lan Settings - a new window pulls up.
Uncheck the "Use proxy server..." check box. Click OK, then click OK again.

Hope that helps somewhat.

Yes, you were correct - the virus had modified my proxy server settings. Fortunately it was easy to reverse. It also took out my desktop and disabled the task manager.

Fortunately I survived this time. There's a lot of this type of trojan/virus around at the moment.
