Epson R2400...service or...?

I have had the printer since they came out and it has printed on without a hitch. Never more than a cleaning cycle and pattern check.
So...had not printed on this one for about 8 months...
-Last week when I started it up, the power light didn't come on...printer did
-Printed just fine
-Today all of the lights were blinking incl. the cartridge lights inside.
-Wouldn't do a nozzle check.
-Powered down and restarted...printed a check.

-Have to use the monitor from the driver to see which cart. to change as all lights are flashing.

Okay...so...is there some secret reset protocol or has a board or something just gone mad?

Repair it? Is that worthwhile? I love the output from this printer, so there's no need from that perspective, but if it's $300 to fix and people are selling them for less than that or there is a significantly better product...?
I am open to all suggestions.

Oh...nature and wildlife primarily...nothing smaller than this one would be cool.

Re: Epson R2400...service or...?

We all struggle with the repair-or-replace decision at some stage.
If you like the 13x19 output, the cheapest solution is to get it
repaired, rather than opting for a new 13x19 model.

A 5 to 6 year old printer has an increased chance of other problems,
but I find Epsons so well-built that I am only just ditching a small 875
which is about 15 years old and has always done good work.

If you are not a high volume printer, the less-expensive ink of the 3880
is probably not worthwhile, so your future could be the 2880, with similar
2400-sized carts.

Dunno re your specific service question - if the printer can still be made
to print to your satisfacftion, abeit with coaxing, wht not just live with it ?

As you were not really very specific about exactly what is happening, hope these links will provide you with the right answers. I do remember that holding down (I believe) the power button and the page feed one at same time when switching on provides some solution so you should find the answer from one link at least.

I can't find anything that addresses all of the ink lights flashing at once.

Re: Epson R2400...service or...?

You did not say if you actually tried any of the suggested remedies, especially the one for resetting the waste ink counter, which is most likely your real problem. have you even tried that?

This was in one of the links I gave (there were other references too)

The flashing lights are probably the waste ink counter which can be reset. Arjay gave you the link to where you can download the software for free. Bob Zeiss who owns MIS Associates (excellent 3rd party ink supplier) once told me that they routinely reset the waste ink counter 3 or 4 times before they do the actual pad replacement for the units they use in house.

The link mentioned is in the link I posted for rangefinder forum.

Otherwise - try a few searches for yourself with specific words like epson 2400 all lightsa flashing as one example
