Re: Konica hexanon UC 28mm 1.8

These vintage film era lenses with wide apertures seem to be going for a lot of dollars on eBay.

When you think that most 28mm lenses were f/3.5, maybe f/2.8, plus Vivitar would offer alternate value with its 28mm f/2.5 lenses, f/1.8 is quite good. Chance favors the prepared mind!

Yes, Pentax 42mm, Pentax K and Nikon AI can still be used on respective DSLRs. But Konica AR and Olympus OM seem to be quite popular right now.  Then, we have Minolta MD and Canon FD.

This is one of my favorite lens to use on a NEX-7. People who say these old lens aren't capable of good performance haven't given them a earnest try.

Thank you for the inquiry. No the lens has been passed on to my son who is putting it to good use. I've been using Konica equipment nearly exclusively from the late 60's until about 10 years ago when I went digital. I am happy to find adapters for the old lens. --

It is so interesting to read all these comments and judgements six years later 😂 Nobody knew Sony will bring A7 cameras and price of this Hexanon will rise to cca 600 USD today 👍

The lens is worth precisely what anyone is prepared to pay for it. You were prepared to pay just $10 Canadian... therefore that becomes the most recently verified price point for this lens.

Good luck getting any more.

Remember when KM left the DSLR industry and many of us had a field day acquiring glass for pennies on the dollar during that lull when no one had any idea Sony would pick up the mount? I know I do.

wow very little info on this gem. I never heard about it until I bought a mint one for $50 and sold it for $900 2 days later, needed the money. It was really sharp wide open, nice colors and close focus distance was epic. Now i am looking for an affordable (<$100)  28 or 24mm vintage lens that is sharp and focuses close ... any advice?

A mint copy of this lens is now selling in Japan for $2500 USD. I bet the OP of this thread never imagined that lens would reach this price level 11 years later.

Well, his last post in the thread was finding an auction of one closing at $700. I'm sure he took the money and ran. Mirrorless was pretty new when this thread started, so it's not a surprise that people thought it wasn't worth much. There are no longer any dead SLR mounts thanks to mirrorless and cheap adapters. Even 110 lenses are being adapted.

The Sigma 28mm F1.8 High-Speed is pretty nice if you find one in good shape. The older Sigma Mini Wide and Super Wide are ok.
