Re: samsung WB210 & The morning of HyeongDo

Hi byung ho Kim

I saw this youtube introduction to the WB210
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZuyDDIjawc&feature=player_embedded

and then saw your photos.

Very interesting. 21mm superwide and 12x optical zoom all in an ultra compact size.

Do you have any ultrawide and zoom photos and videos?

Since you have obtained a WB210, have you tried the WB700 or know any information on it or its release date?

Many thanks.

The WB210 needs a conversion lens to achieve 21mm, and I don't think the conversion lens has been released yet.

I also think it needs a conversion tool to achieve 21mm. What's the real focal range of WB210 (in 35mm equivalent) and lens speed?

And I'm more interested in WB700. It was announced in early January and still we don't know when it goes on sale.

Watch the video, and you will see it's built-in.

Cheers

But it won't be able to combine 21mm with video (nor will 21mm combine with most other optional functions, like AEB).

I once asked about this, at the PhotoKina 2012, thinking it might only need some customer request and a firmware update, but alas, the German respresentative did enquire to Japan HQ, and it seems physically impossible (my reasoning: 21mm might already require quite some post-processing, to eliminate (non-geometrical) lens distortions and/or other artefacts (color fringing?).

Still an unique camera, if only it could also do video and AEB, or more importantly: have HDR, especially HDR-Art (a la Casio, not HDR-Painting a la Sony/Minolta (although their Illustration mode offers a nice compensation gimmick)), and even more so HDR-Art Video (Casio ZR200 and upwards).

(none of the other current 21/20mm options on the market do any good on this HDR-Art/-Video aspect, neither Panasonic FZ72/FZ70 nor Olympus TG850)

Oh, and a panorama-stitching mode is a must too, of course.

(both Panasonic and Olympus do better than Casio here, allowing a full swing (360 degrees) also in portrait mode)

Oh, and best of all: combine HDR-Art also with panorama.

(by now, 2-3 generations of sensors and processors later, one ought to think that both light sensitivity (shutter speed!) and processor speed should allow this combination, but I guess we will either have to wait another few generations, or not see it at all....

Btw, Casio's HDR-Art-Video seems to be outsourced, not from Casio itself, so other manufacturers ought to get their hands on that too (or develop it entirely from scratch).
