TIGER sighting at TADOBA tiger reserve, India

Tigers are pretty elusive in the wild. I was fortunate to see one in the forest of Moharli, Tadoba Tiger reserve, Maharashrta, India

I was on a Jeep safari and all shots are hand-held with the 100-400 L on a 7D. Sorry they may not be PRO grade but hey I got the shots!!!

Thanks

Nice shots. How heavily cropped (if at all) were they? I'm wondering just how close you were to that awesome creature.

They were hardly cropped or not at all. Only the 3rd was cropped a bit. I was maybe 15 feet away. Had to zoom out from 400 mm to about 200 mm to get the complete animal in the frame!
Cheers

Nice captures! Congrats, not many people see this magnificent animal in the wild, and you got very close!

Do you know what are the chances on average to see a tiger there, does it usually take 1 or 2 safari days, or a full week of searching and you will get a 40-60 chance?

Re: TIGER sighting at TADOBA tiger reserve, India

Hi,

We did 4 safaris in 2 days and Saw this tigress and it's 2 cubs in our first one itself! So guess we were lucky. I got some shots of the cubs too but are not so sharp so I did not post them. Ideally there is a good chance of spotting a tiger in maybe 3 days of safari rides (2 rides a day for 3 days). Places like Kanha, Tadoba are good places to sight one as the tiger density is higher! I went to Kabini in south India and I saw 2 leopards on our fifth safari!
Hope this helps!
Cheers
