Error 70 on 550D

All of a sudden, on my 550D I get occasionally an err 70 on the LCD display saying" Shooting is not possible due to an error. Turn the camera off and on again or re-install the battery"

I do all of the above, even replacing the SDHC card with another make but after a few shots it appears again. If you visit Canon support site it states that err 70 is a "malfunctions related to images have been detected".
Anybody else had this fault?

Hello, I think this error appears when your battery is almost discharged and you use the built in flash.
Try a full charging one.

Re: Error 70 on 550D

I copy Canon info that i could find on Google. nothing much specific but you can try

-- hide signature --

If a problem occurs with the camera, an error message is displayed on the LCD.

If your camera displays an error screen like the one shown above, follow the displayed instructions to resolve the problem.

To recover from the error 70 screen, turn the power switch and , or remove and reinstall the battery.

If error 02 (Card problem) is displayed, remove and reinstall the card or format the card. This may resolve the problem.

Attention:

When the card is formatted, all images and data on the card will be erased. Even protected images will be erased, so make sure there is nothing you need to keep.

If necessary, transfer the images to a personal computer, etc., before formatting the card.

For details on how to format the card, please see the related information.

Important:

If an error code appears right after shooting, there are cases where the image may not have been captured. After recovering from the error, please check if the image is recorded on the CF card, by pressing the (Playback) button.

No the battery is new and full. I tried it with another battery I have and still the same. The trouble is that it comes at random so it will be very difficult to investigate where the problem is. I might send it back to Canon as it is under guarantee. I was just trying to find out if anyone else had this.

Re: Error 70 on 550D

I have same problem with 60D, and this advice can't help me:

-- hide signature --

power down camera and remove battery
--power down HDMI device or powered adapter
--unplug the HDMI from the body, then plug it back in
--power up HDMI device or powered adapter
--insert battery and power up camera

I don't even have HDMI, and simple power up-n-down gives nothing.

Re: Error 70 on 550D

I get that when the camera is shooting video for a while on a hot environment, especially if I am using any functions from the Magic Lantern that are demanding on the camera, like zebras. I assume it's a sensor/CPU overheat issue, or if the battery is being drained faster than it can deliver. When I get that error (very rarely) the battery is always very hot.
