Dragonflies Hand Held Literally (10 large images)

Here are some dragonfly photos, rather easy going critters, sure some were skittish but others were quite willing to land on your hand, well its a rather unique position to be holding the dragonfly in one hand and photographing it with the camera in the other hand.

Each dragonfly has 2 images, the first is the full image with little or no cropping and the following image is a 1800x1200 pixel crop of the original. All shot with the K-x and F100mm F2.8

Those are terrific Mike. I was not aware that you could "handhold" a dragonfly. Well done.

Cheers.

Those are outstanding shots Mike .... really well done I tried that once
with some sparrows or chickadees in Vancouver and the first time they landed
on my hand I jumped ... it just caught me by surprise

Cheers and, once again, outstanding pics.

Excellent shots Mike.

Most dragonflies I have seen would not come that close.

Re: Dragonflies Hand Held Literally (10 large images)

How many times have you reached out your hand and offered it to them? you do have to find dragonflies that are a little more comfortable around huge giant holding cameras i guess.

Re: Dragonflies Hand Held Literally (10 large images) -- WOW

Its a lot of fun putting out a hand full of seed for chickadees, but remember the first time, totally not knowing what to expect when they landed
