"NO MORE TEARS" - Short for Ridley Scott/Philips Contest

Hi all,

just to let you know that my last shor movie is online.

I made it specially for the Parallel Lines contest and it was shot entirely on my Canon 7D.
I hope you'll like it.

Cheers

Wow! What great work! Congratulations!

Most of us here are photographers who may play a bit with the video that our cameras offer. Personally I don't ever anticipate putting something like that together, lacking the talent, resources, and knowledge that you must have.

Thanks for sharing something like that with us.

Truly amazing !

What lens/lenses were used? How were all the effects with the flying robots etc. done ? ... unbelievable !!

Re: Truly amazing !

I've used these lenses :

  • Canon EF 24mm f/1.4 L USM II

  • Zeiss ZE 50mm f/1.4

  • Zeiss ZE 85mm f/1.4

And for the bank attack sequence, we've used a Canon EFS 18-55mm (because of the short focal)

All the post-production and effects were made by myself (a lot of work believe me

The robots are, of course, entirely CGI generated (3dsMax) and all sequences (excepted the Cave) were shot outside, on green screen. I think I will soon post a Making-of movie on YouTube with some Before/After shots if you are interested.

holy cow, SFX and everything

wow, this is a really serious level looking production

full SFX shots and everything, wow, i mean not ILM level or anything but well above what you see from do it yourself in the garage wow

in every way it looks anything but amateur

i think those mega octopus vs shark type movies look a lot more amateurish hah

Well done!

Having seen some of Philip Bloom's videos, I've been impressed at what is possible with a 7D (or other recent DSLRs). You have done a truly superb job here, and I wish you all the best for the competition.

I'm pleased that Film students or others interested in making films now have access to both hardware and software that could only have been dreamed about just a few short years ago.

As for me, well my 7D does stills.

Where did you shoot the hovering police 'bots?

Seriously, that was totally cool, and totally professional.
