Re: dmc-FZ100K

looking pretty good!!

3" LCD Free angle ?

25mm wide end...600mm tele end (2.8 to 5.2 ....slower lens,at the tele end

Was I crazy to want the f2.8 constant max aperture ,from the FZ1/2/10/20 ??

11fps in full resolution,for 15 frames !!

Full resolution HD video (1920x1080 pixels)

My film modes... including Dynamic B&W mode.

1:1 aspect ratio.

+ - 3EV auto bracketing !

Still same small EVF

New battery....3rd party might not work, now.

Only 410 shots,per battery charge.

As always, they waited until i bought the FZ35...to come out with this

(We know they release these every mid July)

Re: dmc-FZ100K. New Sensor?

The specs show 1/2.33-inch/ 15.1MP but above it says "14.1 Megapixels MOS." Is this a new designation? What is MOS? Does this mean that the sensor is no longer a CCD? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Re: dmc-FZ100K - And A Flash Hot Shoe

Sounds almost too good to be true......

I dunno....

I'm not opposed to more megapixels - I think they are a good thing but unless Panny has come up with one heck of a sensor technology, all those MP on 1/2.33" sounds crazy.

Lots of the other specs are interesting, and I'm glad that this model will have a Leica-Elmarit lens (not all Pannys do) but it's more like a supercharged FZ-38 than any replacement for the fabled FZ-50. Most specifically, the lens doesn't appear to zoom internally nor does it appear to have manual focus or zoom. For a moment when I saw the model name I was hopeful, but now, not quite so much.

Re: dmc-FZ100K

Looks good but concerned with too much pixel pumping here..really see no point for anything more than 10mp for sensors this size.

I don't know why Panasonic just don't do a full press release rather than these deliberate leaks etc..odd really

The other thing to highlight is the not very good EVF still the same here. Really it's about time they started to make better ones for models such as this a 0.20" one is a bit of a joke really.

Rather odd that the photo shows a hot shoe, but no mention of it in the specs?

Re: dmc-FZ100K

I'm not that familiar with the FZ50, but the FZ100 pic shows a similar switch on the side of the lens barrel.
Is this manual focus?

If Panasonic can keep IQ comparable to FZ38, they may have a winner.

This is no FZ30/50 replacement.

No manual zoom, no fun.

So glad I held off from getting FZ38. This appears to have (almost) everything on my wish list.

Just in case you missed the point this is a new CMOS back illuminated HS sensor. For BI to work most efficiently the tighter the pixels are packed the better hence why Pany went for increasing to 15 mp. Because the sensors are packed much less dense on DSLRs is why BI not effective or used there.

I would project that Pany will be offering the FZ48 with the same lens and similar CCD sensor as the FZ35 but only minor changes and no 1080Hi for those preferring the faster lens and high resolution for still photography while FZ100 is aimed for video use and high speed operations ie 11 fps for action shots.

My Thumbs Down for the dmc-FZ100K

NOT an FZ-50 upgrade or replacements!!

No Manual focus Ring?? ("Jog Dial" for manual focus??)
No Manual Zoom Ring?
No Articulate LCD??
Shutter speed for stills of only 1/2000?? Not enough of an improvement.
I might add that I could care less for any movie capabilities in a still camera.

They should have used the processing power spent on the movie modes to make real good improvemnets in many of the still-image parameters.

This is not what I am waiting for to replace my FZ50.
I'm sure it will be a winner for many, but a loser for my needs.
