Techfurb = re-furb?

Sounds like a re-furb as the name seems to suggest it with tech-furb.

maybe lance, but mine was described as ex-display, pristine. others (there are many) have other subtle description changes. - we're talking 400 aussie here mate! and w three month warranty.

looks legitimate

Me too: just grabbed one.

It says at the bottom of the page that

'TechFurb is a trading name of DSG Retail Limited, Maylands Avenue, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire HP2 7TG'

... and a quick google for DSG Retail limited shows that it is in fact Dixons, and that 'DSG Retail, Ltd. operates as a subsidiary of Dixons Group PLC.' - see

http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/private/snapshot.asp?privcapId=22500621

... in other words a reputable high street electrical chain.

Some of the units listed on ebay say 'used' (but pristine) with a 3-month warranty; others are listed as 'new' with a 12-month warranty.

To the OP: thanks for posting this! If this works out OK, and we ever meet, I will buy you the largest beer that is legally available!!

Best wishes

Wow, too bad they ship to UK only.

The seller seems good. Over 2000 feedback including many 500$+ items. They offer a 3 month warranty and PayPal also offers the buyer protection. I would not hesitate one second to buy this if I was in the UK.

The seller is discussed here in a photography forum about some D3's they had for sale (yet apparently more expensive than Calumet refurbs). According to that thread, techfurb is a trading name for DSG Retail, who own Dixons, Currys and some other UK electronic retailers.

Re: couldnt have easily sold it more ?

I am fairly confident that this is to good to be true, but I always think that and kick myself when I lose out on a good deal!

So I took the plunge and and now waiting to be disappointed.

Either way - brettmeikle - thanks for the heads up!

Any chance I could get one of you to ship one to the US for me?

Re: K7 on ebay UK (techfurb) - £225 inc post

Never done anything quite so impulsive in my life but the £219.13 inc p&p, new with 12 month warranty is ordered. It's a possibility that a number of us may end up with egg on our face but what the hell - if it's genuine we'll be quids in!

For weeks I've been deliberating over the K7 @ £799 and I decided to be sensible and yesterday ordered an 18-55WR to give me a weatherproof combo along with my GX10. It arrived just minutes before I read your post. It just made perfect sense somehow to have two of them and a new body whilst I was about it!

Thanks Brett and I'll second the beer offer if our paths ever cross.

Best regards

Re: looks legitimate

Think I'm going to take the plunge... 'pristine' used £800 camera for £230 seems a good deal... even if its a 18 month old model... does this mean the K7 is on its way out and does it matter!?

Have been toying with getting a DSLR for ages and this seems like a good place to start? Would I be making an error getting this camera or is it better spending £200 more and getting a K-X?

Re: looks legitimate

look on it as £1000 off the RRP of 18 months ago. i read the kx sensor is more forgiving, but it's a no-brainer - mag-alloy body, sealed, 5+fps....WOW!
