Another S90 Case Option

I've found the Case Logic MEQB-1M to be a perfect fit for my S90. For me an important feature was a permanent belt loop, rather than a temporary clip/snap/velcro strap arrangement. I commute on public transit, and have had several close calls nearly losing mobile phones and other gadgets thanks to loose straps. It's well worth taking a couple of extra seconds to put it on the belt for the peace of mind knowing it won't fall off. This one also came with a small carabiner, though I don't use it. There's a small mesh pocket inside, big enough to hold a spare battery and memory card, but not much else. I don't anticipate problems fitting in the Franiec grip that's on its way. It doesn't seem to be on the Case Logic website (perhaps recently discontinued?), but mine was $10 Canadian at the local Sears department store, and here it is on the WalMart website, also available in other colours:

Photos taken with my trusty Sony DSC-F717. I have no connection with the product or stores mentioned, other than being a satisfied customer.

Seems like it might fall out when you remove it if you're not careful, no?

IMHO, I like the Canon S90 case that's designed for it. Perfect fit, easy to remove, and not a lot of bulk. Plus looks vintage. I like that.

Thanks for your comments.

Removal from the case is pretty much a two-handed operation, but not a big deal if you unzip it 2/3 of the way then insert your hand and wrap it around the camera.

Which original Canon case are you referring to? I've seen several (PSC-2600, PSC-2500, PSC-900) that supposedly fit the S90. There's also a nice leather case from China discussed in this thread:

They all look good, but are expensive and none meet my particular need for a permanent belt loop.

Canon PSC900 Deluxe Leather Case is the one I'm referring to. It fits the S90 perfectly and is less than $30.

Lowepro Ridge 10

For $10 at Best Buy you can't beat it, S90 fits perfect.

Lowepro seems to add bulk, no? The Canon PSC900 Deluxe Leather Case adds about 3/8" - 1/2" of extra bulk. Still making it pocketable.

Lowepro Hipshot 20

Just bought the Lowepro Hipshot 20 in Staples today...great streamlined pouch. I have another bag I use for S90 with some extra space for SD cards and battery, but for just the S90 by itself, this Hipshot bag is the sleekest I have found.

Re: Lowepro Hipshot 20

OK, I throw my choice in for the S90 case. Fits it really nice snug so it doesn't add lot of bulk to the camera and has zippered front pocket big enough for just a spare battery and memory card.

Re: Lowepro Hipshot 20

I saw this case while at Staples and it does fit the S90 just right. It probably is the sleekest case that also has a pocket for a memory card and battery. The Hipshot case on the other hand is just for the Camera, no cards, no batteries - not as wide or thick as the Case Logic case. I would get the Case Logic case if I needed the extra storage and the Hipshot if I just wanted to protect the camera while in my jacket pocket, etc. By the way, with either case I would be very careful of the carabiner clip - it would certainly scratch the camera lcd screen if it rubbed against the little hinge rivets. I took my clip off. I would say that using a metal clip is actually a poor design feature. Regards....

Re: Another S90 Case Option

For those who live in Canada, I can recommend the Golla Shield as yet another great case for S90. It is currently on sale for less than half price at the Source.

Also, check out this post by a user of this case in another photography related forum to get more details of it.

Re: Lowepro Hipshot 20

i got the TBC301, same as the 302 but without carabiner and front pocket... it's 1/8" thinner and costs six bucks at Microcenter.

No zipper case for me; they can scratch.

Lowe Pro Terraclime 10

Others have commented on the terraclime 30 for the S90. I could not get the 30 in Bankgok, but found a complete range of all the colours of the 10. It is a good snug fit, works well and is eco friendly
No Velcro to snag the wrist strap, no zipper to scratch the LCD

Sorry, can't take a pic of the camera in the case right now as do not have a spare to take photos with
Good luck
Helen

If you are after a vintage look, the DCC-1440 leather soft case should suit you even better:

Does the Canon Case...

Let you carry a spare battery and memory? I would have no use for it if it doesn't. If you use the S90 for very long, you are going to need another battery. Yes the little Lowepro cases do add more bulk, but I think they are a bit more versatile also.

I am using this case, http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Lowepro+-+Pouch+-+Black/7092932.p?id=1109233323040&skuId=7092932&st=lowepro&cp=2&lp=3

Re: Does the Canon Case...

No. It doesn't have a slot for extra battery or memory card. I haven't used it for a long trip or don't take more than perhaps 50-100 shots per day. I imagine I would carry it with my hi-def Sony camcorder bag if that's the case.

Also, this case is stylish and fits perfectly in my jacket pocket with no bulk. Isn't that the whole purpose of the s90 after all?

Re: Lowepro Hipshot 20

Just an update...I have a lot of problems getting the camera in this case. Out is no problem, but in is always tricky. It has a cloth lip with a pull string that makes the fit a bit tight and hard to get the cam back into the case. I may return it for the Case Logic case. I really like the HipShot fit, but always struggling to get the camera in the case is getting old.

Re: Lowepro Hipshot 20

Another update for those of you that may have the Hipshot 20. I decided to cut off the nylon flap and pull string from the opening of this case and now I have no problem getting the camera in and out. It didn't matter to me to have the case completely sealed, and now it works as protection for when the camera in in my pocket. It is so much easier to work with without that flap.
