Is that a detachable EVF or what?

The viewfinder hump sure looks big, very big......from the side it looks like OLY-3's hump but enlarge..

I'm pretty sure that's a Sony/Zeiss zoom. Maybe that is the new A700 replacement?

Interesting

Could be. Although I don't see the blue Zeiss badge on the lens - I see what could be the Zeiss letters, but not blue badge. The little white spots on the lens are also in the spot where Nikon has several switches with white lettering. Still, there's a resemblance.

Given that Krist is a well known Nikon shooter, it would be strange for him to be shooting with a Sony, unless.......

Yeah, who knows? Although, to me, it looks like there is a little blue around that white lettering, no?

Re: Interesting

....granted, that penta-prism part of the camera doesn't look Sony-ish, so you may be right.

If it's Sony (and this photo is no proof, given the guy is a Nikon shooter, why would he get an unrerleased Sony camera?), it can't be A750 ... it's FF. A950 or something.

Bob Krist's latest blog entry talks about a shoot he's doing for a client, which he can't name, using a camera, which he can't name. He includes a shot of himself using the camera however. Maybe the new Nikon, or maybe something else. Looks like a Nikon to me.

Personally, I like the lens hood reversed on lens shooting through glass.

Same here, why carry a lens hood on a helicopter if you're not going to use it, and why shoot through glass. When I shoot from helicopters the doors are open.

Strap eyelet seems to be in a wrong place for a Sony

sony forum calls that photo a new Sony dSLR

I was just reading the sony forums, and they post that exact same photo calling it maybe a a750 or a950 and pointing out it is probably a Zeiss lens on that camera.

Actually, if he wanted to avoid tremendous vibrations then he would surely not touch the helicopter with the camera. Anyone's hands could do a better job compared to leaning their camera/lens weight on a helo in flight.

Oddly enough, it seems Bob removed my comment from his blog about the lens looking like a Zeiss:

Re: D4?

Considering he is shooting from a helicopter at twilight, could he be trialling an early version of the D4? Body size/shape looks about right.

Re:reverse lens hoood

When shooting through glass you place the lens onto the glass Thus reducing reflections. image quality suffers yet is more pronounced the greater the focal length. The lens hood is reversed so you dont lose it.

The way posts on this site get hijacked by someone as in this post in which the original question was re. is this a new nikon into a ramble about the lenshood for heavens sake. All that I can say is that if anyone can tell whether this is a nikon, new or not or almost any other DSLR then they must have super hero eyesight. What a lot of tosh.
