Re: remove keylogger

She is probably is lying to you. Why? What she's doing is trying to get you to stop doing something when she isn't around, when she could have used the OS's free, built-in parental controls to do that for free (or bought heavy-duty parental control software instead of a keylogger). Clearly she is not that familiar with the Mac.

Besides the idea behind a keylogger is that it secretly watches what happens. Wrong tool for the job.

Keyloggers run under the OS they're installed to, so the easiest way to overcome a keylogger is run OSX from an external drive. Buy a $50 120Gb USB drive, load OSX into it, shut down the Mac, plug in the external, and hold down the OPTION button as you restart the Mac. The Mac will look at all connected hard drives that have OSes in them and give you the 'option' (clever, yes?) as to which drive to boot from. Then you run from one drive while accessing the files from the Mac. Easy.

Having said all this, my advice to you is to stay away from the porn . Seeing as your only other post on this site is a comment about a porn-related filter program, it seems you have a bit of a bothersome hobby. Go and get some fresh air.

There's no need to do any of that. This keylogger is extremely lame. It is installed per account , so all one needs to do is create a new account. Even easier, it also relies on Enable access for assistive devices to be turned on in System Preferences (which is how it can get the key events), so just turn that off. It doesn't look too hard to completely remove either.

If he hasn't figured it out in 21/2 years it is probably to late for help.

Yeah, Like I want your Mom on my case.

Have a sit down with your Mom and find out why trust has eroded. Otherwise wait until your are 19+, move out and buy your own computer. If she paid for the machine, she has every right to keep you from heaping shame on the family name.

By now he's being treated for his porn addiction.

Hey Sonyye, congrats on making your 1st post on dpreview a reply to a dormant 2-year-old post. What an auspicious beginning! ;-x

Go to and download some 'mom porn' . If she starts looking at you funny, you will know that she was telling the truth...If not, then she was lying or seriously bent.
