Some leaked info on new RICOH GXR

I just received a RSS newsfeed from http://www.photographyblog.com .

The title says:

Ricox GXR In-depth
Learn all about the intriguing Ricoh GXR digital camera.

Sadly, the link to the news is not (yet?) vaild:

http://www.photographyblog.com/news/ricox_gxr_in-depth/

BUT there was a picture in the feed that I could download to my computer. It's not a photo of the actual camera, but it does give some information.

So probably there will be great news tomorrow
I'm already quite excited about this!!

I've never posted an image before, so I'm not sure, if it works:

Oh, I'm sorry. I just meant that drawing at the end of my post that shows the lenses and the OVF.

I hope this one is visible?!

interesting, but odd zoom range (for Ricoh)

If this is the real deal, it looks very interesting.

However, assuming that it's an APS-C sensor (definitely won't be bigger), that 24-72mm lens would be equivalent to approx. 35-110mm on 135 format. A fairly normal range, but a little conservative on the wide end for Ricoh's standard. It's certainly possible that they'll also launch a wide prime lens (hopefully 24mm-equiv), which would make it more attractive to the enthusiast crowd.

I'm pretty sure that 24-70 is already in 35mm terms. At least I surely hope...

It's a very interesting concept, don't you think?

Very intriguing! Does it mean you buy a new sensor every time you get a new lens? It might keep the camera body relevant for longer but it seems the lenses will get expensive. I have great faith in Ricoh though, they must thought this through. Can't wait to get more details.

removable lens/sensor!

Wow, can't accuse Ricoh of a lack of innovation, very interesting.

rather expensive

£420 for the "unit"
£600 for the 12.3MP CMOS sensor & 50mm Macro Lens (HD Video)
£300 for the 10MP CCD sensor & 24-72mm Zoom Lens (5fps RAW, VGA video)

Wow...
Thanks for the link!

This explains a lot. Now it is clear, why they got the zoom lens that small. They use a small sensor
But nevertheless very interesting and truly upgradeable
It's an "all-in-one" camera!

Hmm...if so they should really indicate that these are 'equivalent' focal lengths, because otherwise you really don't know what is being described (in terms of light gathering / DoF characteristics). Still looks interesting, though.

Best idea since long times - all the big companies like canon or nikon should have create something like that - but they create only cameras to get our money -

Where did it say small sensor? I cannot think it will use a small sensor - one due to the rumours, two due to the price and three due to mFT competition.

Anyway the camera with prime lens is going to be in the £1000 range. That's going to be a shock for many people. Almost as much a shock as the £1200 X1 over at the Leica forum. It's not going to be for the faint of heart.

How did Which? magazine get the scoop on the camera before the official Ricoh announcement???

Looks like the most usable small camera by a mile. I'm just hoping they bring out a wide angle prime module as well.... Wow.

Re: interesting, but odd zoom range (for Ricoh)

It certainly looks like the same size lens that appears on the front of my GX100, and that has been also confirmed by the rather conflicting information on the web about a zoom with focal length suitable for small sensors and a prime with a focal length associated with APS-sized sensor.

It will be very interesting to get hold of more information tomorrow...

Too expensive for unproven technology.

I've been reading these forums for a while now, as I'm in the market for something new. I'm already sorely tempted by Ricoh's lineup - I just have to decide which is right for me.

Anyway, 'Which' have maybe let this video slip ahead of time. Let's face it, 'leaks' are commonplace these days.

It's an interesting concept, but that price is just, well, rather steep to put it mildly.
In fact the whole venture seems a bit risky.

One thing is for certain...I won't be paying the asking price, even though I can afford it. I reckon this new technology will require at least a year or so to see how consumer's react.

Don't get me wrong. I hope this does succeed, but of course we will now have to wait for the actual camera and see how it performs.
Now, back to deciding on CX2/GX200/GRDIII...

Innovative, yes. Interesting, yes. Applause. But I'm not sure I get it.

Will wait for further developments and clarification.

It seems that "Ricohs camera system will start with two “lenses”, one prime, one zoom. The prime has 33mm real focal length, the zoom 5,1-15,3mm.“ So, the 33 mm it's 50mm equivalent so it has an 1.5 crop APS-C, while the zoom is the same lens present on GX200 and probably coupled with GRDIII's 1/1.7" sensor. Both sensors seem to be from Sony.
