Hey.....read this post and I just called Samy's and they ARE taking pre-orders. The guy said they just got the info from Canon two days ago. Price (subject to change) for 1DMark4 3999

I want more resolution, forget about the in-camera neat image noise reduction . I want more real resolution, not like the 21MP fake that's exactly like my 1Ds up-sized .

the 1Ds cameras need to compete against the sony a900 now. In terms of resolution not noise reduction.

apply the noise reduction trick to the 1D cameras, not the 1Ds

Fairly certain Canon do.

Actually I do too. NDAs are important in industry to allow select partners pre-access to product information and development cycles.

Breach of NDAs makes vendors and manufacturers more reluctant to hand out information, which makes my day job much harder.

I'm talking about taking electronic noise to the bare minimum, maximizing the sensor's light-gathering efficiency and any other hardware refinements that can be made to maximize signal-to-noise ratio. I don't want any kind of "noise reduction" in the sense you're referring. In terms of resolution, I might be interested in a camera without AA filter, or at least a substantially weaker one, while maintaining the 25MP density. I believe that would result in appreciably greater resolution without cramming terribly more pixels on to the sensor.

And the A900? It didn't see that it was capturing significantly greater detail than either the 5DII or 1DsIII at base ISO. Can you point me to images showing the A900 delivering detail beyond that one would expect for a camera with 4 more megapixels?
