Belt pouch for G11?

Now that I have the G11, SDHC card and spare battery, the only G11 accessory left on my shopping list is a camera pouch with a belt loop. Any recommendations? I'd like quick and easy access to the camera, so I don't want a pouch that will be too tight a fit. Or too big either. An extra pocket for spare battery/memory card would be nice. The D-Pods line by Lowepro seems to fit the bill for what I need. I read a review on Amazon.com that the D-Pods 30 is too tight a fit for the G10, so I imagine it won't be any better for the G11. I see Lowepro just released a new D-Pods 25 pouch for compact P&S cameras like the G10 & G11.

http://www.lowepro.com/2009-summer-pouch-collection

It has slightly bigger dimensions than the D-Pods 30, so it should fit the G11 nicely. But I can't find ANY retailer in the US carrying the D-Pods 25 at this time. It seems to only be available in Australia and a few other countries. The closest place to the US I've found that carries the D-Pods 25 is London Drugs in British Columbia, Canada

But unfortunately they don't ship to the US. Is there a belt pouch similar to the D-Pods 25 that I buy now?

Re: Belt pouch for G11?

In anticipation of getting the G11 I got the Tamrac 5689 belt pouch. I first called Tamrac to see if they would recommend it for the G11. They looked up the dimensions, thought about it, and said yes. Excellent customer service. I think it might meet your needs. Amazon has it. Hope this helps.

Re: Belt pouch for G11?

ah, nevermind. I brain-farted, having completely forgotten I still had a Case Logic camera belt pouch that I had bought 3 years ago when I purchased my Canon SD 700is. It's been sitting gathering dust for awhile as it was just too big for the SD700. However, it fits the G11 well and has room for extra memory card and battery. It is a bit bigger than I'd like, but it'll do for now until I come across something better. I only need a belt pouch for the few cooler Arizona months where I won't be wearing cargo shorts with roomy pockets.

D-Pods 25 won't be available in US

I sent an email to Lowepro's US sales office earlier this morning asking about the D-Pods 25 camera pouch. I just received a reply back. The guy said Lowepro has no plans to sell the D-Pods 25 in the USA. For the G11, he recommended either the Apex 60 AW or Rezo 60.

The G11 fits in the Rezo 50

but it is a little tight. The rezo 60 would be just perfect.

Re: Belt pouch for G11?

I really like the two piece fitted case that was shown on DPR's announcement of the G11. I have not seen any of those advertised by anyone. If anyone knows anything about where they can be found, PLEASE, mention it on this thread.

As far as the belt pouch, I think that my SMALL cellphone case on my belt is enough and also TOO LARGE for comfort.

Tamrac 5689 (no wrist strap) - Amazon etc. I got my G11 this morning and it fits in the Tamrac 5689 very well. Not too loose, not too tight. Snug.

Re: The G11 fits in the Rezo 50

Actually, I think the Rezo 50 works quite well. When I bought my G11 just now I unpacked it and put it in the Rezo 50. I think it fits nicely.

Re: Belt pouch for G11?

I used the Mountain Smith Cyber II (Size L) for the G10 and it fits the G11 great. Has a belt loop and room for an extra card/battery.

From what I've read, Canon isn't selling the everready case in the US. It can be purchased on Ebay.

+1 for MountainSmith. Few competitors offer MontainSmith quality IMHO.

Tamrac's site lists 5689's internal height as 5.25". G11 is approximately 4.5". Is there really 3/4" of space between G11 and case?

Found the Rezo 60 to be too bulkly

I bought the Rezo 60. It's a bit big for the G11, although that makes it easier to get the camera with neck strap in/out of the bag.

However, in the end I really don't like this bag. It's too bulky. The front pocket with the useless cover flap sticks out, adding the bulk. The front pocket isn't that big --- can't hold a spare battery with a SD card in its case without a lot of effort.

I'm going to return the Rezo 60 and look for something thinner that still has a shoulder strap.

I've also decided to go with the Op/Tech USA brand wrist strap with a quick release disconnect so that I could also attach a neckstrap. So far, I'm loving the wrist strap. A camera bag with detachable neck strap would be an ideal way to carry the camera when not in use.

Re: Belt pouch for G11?

FWIW I just picked up the LowePro Apex 100 AW today along with a 270EX Speedlight, and an extra NB-7L battery. The Apex holds the G11, Flash, 4AA plastic battery holder and the extra NB-7L just perfect, with a little space for extra SDHC cards and similarly small items. It comes with an removable/adjustable shoulder strap but also has a wide belt loop for belt carry too. It's also got the thick nylon side loops for attaching compatible accessory cases.
I'm charging up some Energizer AAs for the flash now so haven't tested it yet.

I also just ordered a Stofen Omni-Bounce style diffuser for it off ebay for about $10.

Re: Found the Rezo 60 to be too bulkly

I was looking at these cases as well, and I completely agree on your views of the Rezo 60. Although I was thinking the Apex 60, with very similar dimensions would be a good fit. I didn't have G11 with me to check it's compatiblity.

Also, I occasionally use filters, and while I know the case won't hold any of the adapters, i'm hoping it will have some room in the front pouch for a CPL. Thus allowing me to keep adapter tubes in a backpack where scratching is more of a concern than pressure that could crack a CPL.

I'm also looking for a wrist strap, though yet to find one to my liking. Not looking for anything bulky or long. Has anyone had any experience with the Canon WS20? So far that seems the closest to what I'm looking for.
