Who is the ad girl at the newest Panasonic advertisement at this dpreview site?

And that young woman has accomplished more in 7 years than most of the haters in this thread will have done in their entire life.
I beg to differ. Success in the music business does not automatically entail accomplishment of anything significant.

We all know the masses will take whatever crappy form of entertainment they're given and willingly stuff it down their throats, especially if it's garnished with such marketing words as "alternative", "rebellious", "punk" et cetera.

Avril Lavigne is an accomplishment in the field of marketing, not in that of music, and she herself has accomplished very little - it's the music industry's marketers who have accomplished a lot.

That said, it comes as news to me that celebrities that don't have anything at all to do with photography are advertising photographic devices. Around here photography ads concentrate mainly on the results one can obtain, rather than on the people in them.

Then again, where I live we have soccer players advertising all sorts of unrelated products...

LOL!
Joseph you are so funny!

Anyways, back to the OP question: no, it's not April, but a very close look-alike, as Joseph pointed out.

Japanese companies have a habit of hiring young teenage models to promote their products (the girls are Japanese looking or often Western looking, btw). Canon chose April and Panasonic copied Canon as best they could - it's as simple as that.

Obviously 90% of buyers of these cameras are men between 40 and 60, who look more like Homer Simpson than April Lavigne, but that's beside the point.
Bring on Ricardo Montalban! :)

Enjoying my LX3!

As probably the only person on this forum that was involved with many of the albums that are still played on the radio years later, I have to stick up for Avril Lavigne. She might not represent your taste in music or pop culture but she has struck a cord with millions of people who think she has made a positive impact on their lives. That is a pretty major accomplishment in my book.
What positive impact have you made on millions of people?
Don't like her, don't buy her records or attend her concerts.

I dare say I would rather spend the afternoon chatting with her than most people on this hobby forum, she is a bright, thoughtful, attractive young woman who has been able to maintain her career on several fronts. I met her once and was impressed even when she was a teen. Oh, yes, she is also an avid photographer who does know a bit about gear as well as the art.

Her name is Shivshakti sachdev. She is an established television actress.
Do you realize that you are replying to a four year old thread? Did you even read the original posts?

Shivshakti is in the Indian Panasonic smartphone TVC for 2013 , but I highly doubt that she was the Avril Lavigne lookalike referenced in the original posts from 2009.
