Too many decisions

There's several lenses I want that don't exists, but the first one I'd buy is an updated UWA zoom. Sony's current 11-18 is dated and a poor performer compared to modern designs.

Please Sony, convince Tokina to make the 11-16/2.8 for A mount or get crackin on a new lens.

The Tokina 11-16/2.8 A mount is work in progress i think. We'll see it sooner or later.

Why not just re-issue the Minolta 28/2, 35/2 and 100/2? All are supposed to be superb on FF

It's my understanding that KM sold off some of it's assets before Sony could buy them, and some of those assets were some of the lens production facilities for some of those fast primes. Sony may have the blueprints, but they would have to re-tool anyway, so why not just start from scratch with a digital design?

And, yeah, I want some fast primes too. But I want the medium telephotos that you can't shoot indoor sports without. I wouldn't mind a 35/2, but what I really want is an 85/1.8 or 100/2.0 like Canon has.

More Zeiss

I, and I'm sure many others, especially from the old Contax camp, were attracted to the Sony system because of the Zeiss glass.

I would like to see more Zeiss glass, but notably:

21/2.8
24/1.4 or 2
35/1.4
50/1.4 or 1.2
100/2.8 macro with 1:1 ability
200/2 to 2.8 preferable with close focus ability

and of course some T/S options.

Both of my non G 50/1.4 and 100/2.8 lenses are not so bad.

Re: a reasonably priced 50mm f1.2 or faster would do.

I'm not sure how reasonably priced such lens would be

Sony does not have this fast prime, while others have.

There is one rokkor f1.2 in 50s i think, but is it usable and in production is not clear to me.

FF 24-135mm (with wide open constant aperture)

I would like to see a 24-135mm G or CZ with a very wide open constant aperture (say between 2.8 and 3.5). This would be a replacement for the Minolta 28-135.

I would also like to see a similar zoom range lens with the shutter in the lens. This require upgrades in the camera or firmware but would allow flash sync at all speeds.

Yup - I'd pay full price as well. If Nikon can do it why not Sony?

I would never consider FF until Sony fills this gaping hole in their lens line. Where is the 51mm f1.4? How can Sony ever be considered a serious player if they can't get the simple stuff right?

Next should be a CZ 24-71mm f2.8. I could go on with all the obvious problems in the lens line-up. A 100mm f2.85 macro is also dearly needed.

If as your post seems to indicate you find the subject of this thread pointless. Why not just ignore it instead of taking the time to be facetious. Asking users of a camera system which lens they would like hardly seems unreasonable.

Wow, having a bad day Jim?? Henry just answered the question of the original OP something you did not do. So why the beef??

Re: What lens would you like to see introduced next by Sony?

hmm... well, personally an 85/1.8 would be at the top of my my list, but some other big holes would be a 24-105/4 G SSM, 35/2, 100/2, 400/4.5 G SSM, 70-200/4 G SSM, and then all the superteles.

As well as this, I think it'd be good if Sony could come out with some unique lenses, like an 85/2 STF or a DT 60/2 STF, or both - they have the 135, so I don't see whhy they couldn't apply the same technology to other focal lengths. There could even be the possibilty of having these as AF lenses. Also, they could maybe come out with something like a 300-500/4.5, as a competitor to Nikon's 200-400/4.

If Sony came out with all pf the above, they'd have a very nice selection of glass.

I'm afraid such a lens would be too large.
A 28-135/4 would already be a great lens.

Extreme wide angle prime for FF, 12mm or 14mm?

need not to be f/2.8. f/4 would be good enough.

Re: What lens would you like to see introduced next by Sony?

Two that I would really like to see:

1) 100-200mm f4 macro (1:1 at 200mm)

2) 200-500mm f4-5.6 G SSM with both near and far range focus limiter (1:3.5 at 500mm)

Yeah, I'm partial to macro and wildlife and zooms are more versatile.
