Re: What lens would you like to see introduced next by Sony?

I personally would like
2,8/16 G/ZA
4/15-30 G/ZA
4/24-105 G/ZA or 4/35-110 G/ZA
4/70-200 G/ZA

also maybe
4/200 G Makro

also still missing in the system:
4/400 G
2,8/200 G
2/200

Re: Cheap 35 f1.8 for aps-c

DT 35/1.8 or similar would be something this cheapskate might actually buy at full price.

Almost everything I've purchased is used, and the a700 and 50/1.4 purchased new I redeemed Sony Card points for.

A better 50/1.4, some 'mid-range' FF zooms and an 85/1.8

  • A better 50/1.4, rather like the new Nikon one DP-Review recently tested (not the size/weight of the Sigma)

  • An 85/1.8 rather like the Canon one

  • A smallish, lightish FF 20-35/4

  • A better FF 24-105/4

Oh yes, and they should re-issue the AF28/2, AF35/2, AF100/2, AF200/2.8 and AF300/4 as well! I really don't understand why they don't do this as it would give much credibility to their FF body range

Definitely an 85mm 1.8. No need for the superteles, and any zoom slower than 2.8 is too slow.

Re: f/2 primes

Yep, spot on! f/2 primes of uncompromising quality, preferably Zeiss and it wouldn't hurt if they were all Zuiko sized...

Why not just re-issue the Minolta 28/2, 35/2 and 100/2? All are supposed to be superb on FF

Re: f/2 primes

With me personally, it's fear that the film-era Minolta designs (great as they might be) will not live up to the demands of a 24+MP sensor. I owned the 24mm f2.8 RS for a brief while and it was all over the shop in terms of flare and CAs...

Also, there's always improvement to be made; why not start with a clean sheet that takes into account that today's 24+MP will be tomorrow's 30+MP?

I would never consider FF until Sony fills this gaping hole in their lens line. Where is the 51mm f1.4? How can Sony ever be considered a serious player if they can't get the simple stuff right?

Next should be a CZ 24-71mm f2.8. I could go on with all the obvious problems in the lens line-up. A 100mm f2.85 macro is also dearly needed.

If as your post seems to indicate you find the subject of this thread pointless. Why not just ignore it instead of taking the time to be facetious. Asking users of a camera system which lens they would like hardly seems unreasonable.

Re: What lens would you like to see introduced next by Sony?

Yeah, the long rumored 24-105/f4.0G would be nice...

..., but a new super-quality 50mm/f1.4 would be a great thing... I like what Sigma have produced with their new 50mm/f1.4, and no doubt Sony could come up with something to trump it. The extra size and weight certainly doesn't bother me. Quality is what counts, imho.

I don't care if it's a Zeiss or Sony G... Both labels are capable of producing class leading lens designs if they choose to... 'One of my main reasons for loving the Sony system

There's a rumor that those lenses (and others - 28-135/4-4.5?) were made with lead-containing glass, and can no longer be manufactured due to newer environmental restrictions. Canikon equivalents were grandfathered in and are still being made, but as Minolta ceased manufacturing of those lenses getting grandfathered in isn't possible.

a reasonably priced 50mm f1.2 or faster would do.

a reasonably priced 50mm f1.2 or faster would do.

Sony does not have this fast prime, while others have.

There is one rokkor f1.2 in 50s i think, but is it usable and in production is not clear to me.

Sigma makes much better quality APS-C lenses than Sony, and sells them for much less in most cases. Sigma also has all the ranges covered nicely for the APS-C only lenses for the A-mount, and they are quickly moving to all in-lens HSM motors so they will still work on the first new Sony DSLR camera that does not have a lens motor in the body (just a matter of time on that one!)

i have one sigma lense and it is complete garbage. Will never buy any sigma in my life again. No chance.

24-105mm f/4 G SSM

And PLEASE with a better minimum focus distance than the 28-135mm which I love but isn't versatile enough due to that.
