[News]Samsung 85mm/f1.4 for K-Mount Test Shot

Big news for K-Mount users.

The source is below. (yeah, yeah... Korean web site. )

http://www.slrclub.com/bbs/vx2.php?id=newproduct_samsung&no=896

Samsung 85mm/f1.4 lens for K-mount is on the test.

You can take a look a test shot in upper link. It is taken by GX-20. EXIF information is removed. Some Samsung guys confirmed it is real.

It is taken in indoor and just next of windows, so the face is a little bit dark. Just refer it as a sample.

It is K-mount lens not for NX.

It is designed for FF body. (does it mean that GX-30 is FF body???? who knows.. )

There are more info. in the comments of the thread. I will interpret them.

.================

There was a internal rumor that 60mm Macro, 85/f1.4 and 300-OIS were being developed. 85/f1.4 now is real. So, the other 2 would be reveal soon.
.================

I saw the 60mm Macro. The speed is much faster what I expected. The outfit doesn't look fancy, but the image quality is just excellent. Minimum focal length is around 2 or 3 cm. Also I saw a sample shot of 300/f2.8, too.
.================

Yeah, I saw the lens and mounted on my camera. It has fast AF speed.
.================

FF sensor is under development now. Surely, FF body will be available some day. It is not completed though.
.================

It is very big lens. It is bigger than 100mm Macro. Yeap, way bigger..
.================

That's about it.

Sorry. 85mm/f1.4 is NOT for FF body.

It is developed by Samsung 100%.

I have a link for the lens mounted. But the picture is accessible only by its users.

I will ask the picture owner to post slrclub.com, so it can accessible for anybody.

Re: [News]Samsung 85mm/f1.4 for K-Mount Test Shot

I'd love it to be true - hopefully Samsung's pricing wouldn't follow the recent Pentax increases though

I presume the lens in question is just the rebranded Pentax version. Wasn't there a picture of a range of Samsung-branded Pentax lenses that have never materialised?

I do have my doubts about a lot of these rumours. It seems vaguely odd to me that the picture seems to have been taken at a dinner table...

Hopefully my natural skeptism will prove wrong and we will have a nice range of (quality) Samsung lenses to choose from in the near future.

By Koean source...

The lens in question was fully designed and fabricated by samsung digigal imaging, not the rebranded Pentax version.

This rumour is real !
In my opinion, the lens in question is under testing.

I also 100% agree on your opinion.

If it was just a Korean design it would have been alright. The Samyang-Polar-Vivitar 85mm 1.4 shows good quality. Add AF and you have an FF 85mm 1.4 that can compete with the best portrait lenses around. It doesn't look like the Samyang though.

Very cool. This makes me feel better about investing my hard earned dollars in the K mount.

Re: Very nice!

Iven if I prefer a longer focal lenght on FF, (like 135mm), a fast short tele is very handy, so iven to me, an 85mm f 1.4 is very welcomed for FF use.
If is not good for FF, is plain stupid !
If is SDM only, again is plain stupid !

Samyang renders OK, but need mutch better coatings - prone to flare is a huge understatement...

I love it. I check this forum maybe once a month, and there always seems to be something going on about a wonderful new piece of gear, based on published rumor, a poor photo with no EXIF info, and a couple of terrible barroom shots of the supposed lens.

Two weeks plus have passed since the rumor was posted, and zip has shown up in real photo news.

Let's see, when was the GX30 supposed to be announced? Was it a month ago, or two months ago?

The lenses lengths sound good, but...
