5D Mark II with Sarah Palin

On June 6th, Sarah Palin visited Auburn New York to celebrate Founders Day. William H. Seward, of Auburn, was the secretary of state who negotiated the purchase of the Alaskan territory from Russia. On this day Auburn celebrated the 50th anniversary that Alaska became the 49th State. We'll probably never see Sarah in Auburn again so I took this opportunity to capture as many photos of the day as I could.

I purchased a 5d Mark II after using a 30D for a couple of years. I’m amazed at how much better the images look with this camera. I liked the 30D’s crop factor but with the full frame of the 5D Mark II, I can crop to my heart’s content.

All photos were shot in sRAW1 then adjusted and converted to jpeg using DPP. They were then re sized using APS CS3.

I thought it was great having her in Auburn, even though I didn't vote for her.

Sarah gets the key to the city.

The remaining photos can be seen here.

The first shot in sraw1 is impressive

Wonder what the full resolution would have been like, great colors and skin tone.

Her skin looks good for her age, is that the benefits from makeup.

Guess your shutter speed was low her hand is blur from her movement.

Re: 5D Mark II with Sarah Palin

The neck strap combined with the wieght of the 5DII is just about right to get the job done at a focusing distance of about 4 feet.

I Agree

There was a lot more humor in the world when we were in grade school.

Anyway, I like the photos and hope to see more.

the first shot is not flattering

i expect people to be critical of my work so i'll do you the favor and give you my honest opion...

as for the 1st photo, it is not flattering at all, her eyes are squinting from the sun, the shadows are very harsh, and the expression on her face isn't very becoming of her, it is almost goblin like.

the other 2 photos are good.

The 5D is tough as nails, it was built to withstand

The 5D is tough as nails, it was built to withstand photographing Hillary Clinton.

Gov. Palin is easier on the system, and easier on the eyes.

People who claim to be open minded never see it my way.

Evita

Last year, Mandy Patinkin did a one man show in London. Some of you may recall, he played Che in the original Broadway production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita back in the '70s.

In his London show he sang Che's song 'Oh What a Circus, Oh What a Show!', and changed the lyrics at one point, singing '... the best show in town was the crowd outside the Casa-Rosada crying SARAH PALIN', rather than 'Eva Peron'.
It got a huge laugh from everyone in the audience - Brits and Yanks alike.

For photo 1 I used my 70 - 200mm 2.8LIS.

Photos 2 & 3 I added the Canon 1.4x II extender.
