Keukenhof - The amazing technicolor gardens.

Last month I had the opportunity to go twice to Keukenhof park, near Amsterdam.

The place is an amazing concentration of flower displays that just begs to be photographed.

I meandered through the beautiful flower beds and carefully mounted displays for hours, amidst a huge crowd of visitors armed from the simplest compact P&S to the most sophisticated photo gear available.

In the first day I was presented with some great sunny weather and was able to use the natural light play to my advantage. The second time around it was overcast, threatening to rain but, fortunately, only a few drops came to be and I was able to make a second run, with some somewhat more even, albeit dull, light.

Here are some photos of those 2 visits. More can be seen at:

Hope you enjoy them!

wonderful pics...i really like them.

I was visited a comparing place here in switzerland, at Morges in Springtime there also thousands of tulips, sure less than in Keukenhof, but it was not possible to drive up to Amsterdam.

Still, you managed to take photos there, I see...I really liked your "Landschaft und Natur" gallery. Great work!

Well, just hop on a plane and go there...:)

It's not only Amsterdam or places like Keukenhof or Zaanse Schans.

The whole country is just a treasure cove for photo opportunities.

I haven't managed yet to photographically explore the vast polders with their enclosed dike embankments, windmills and tree lines. Those can cater for very powerful geometrical compositions.

One of my favorite photographers, Martin Kers, is Dutch and takes great advantage from this kind of scenery provided by his home country:
