I wonder if this means 1 stop in this persons opinion, or a whole new 'level' of high ISO capabilities from Pentax. (Imagine a 'useable' ISO 3200 even).

7, The AF has great improvement

Ahh, the classic Pentax line hah; lets hope!

8, VF is worthy "waiting"

Yeah... Pentax has definitely given every impression that something w/ the OVF is gonna have people talking.

HD movies? Anyone else aware of other Canon/Nikon functions the K20D lacked?

This pic has detail everywhere but it starts to blur near the "WR" look at the 3 lines around the glass element, it fades when coming up to the WR. I hope this pic is real many people including me have been crying out for Pentax to make a weather-sealed kit lens to go with the weather-sealed body it would help everyone, Pentax more sales, and us happy, happy. But I am concerned this is not a leaked out pic but a PS job becuase of the blurs near the AL and WR.

Re: Rumor from Japan

It has all the makings of a fake (even if a fairly well done one) - but we'll see. I don't see Pentax spending the money in this area though... that would cost so much in manufacturing time and money considering all of the kit lenses produced each year.

K30Dは早くても年末。あくまでも645Dの開発 発売が優先

1. The real machine has been seen
2, Not a successor of K20D
3, The same level of surprise as K10D

The K10D was not much of a surprise.

4, Improved CMOS from K20D

Or perhaps a redesigned version of the same sensor. That would suck big time. I was hoping for at least a 1.3x crop, if not full frame CMOS sensor.

5, PRIME ---> PRIME 2
6, The noise control has 100% improvement ?
7, The AF has great improvement
8, VF is worthy "waiting"

Looks like it could have an interchangeable viewfinder system like the LX, as the shape of the prism housing is reminiscent of the LX. That would be good, and hope this "innovation" will catch on.

9, Functions from other rivals are included

May be a bit late nevertheless since the most important "function" (i.e. a bigger sensor) may not be included.

10, THe price is around 150,000 to 160,000 Yen

That would make it a $1,500 camera. Good luck selling it if it has an APS-C sized sensor.

11, THe delayed launch of DA 60-250 is due to the adjustment with new
body
12, K30D will be lanuched at the end of this years. 645D is the first

What would the K30D be like? An 18mp APS-C replacement for the K20D? Hopefully it is not yet another APS-C model. There are already too many of those in the market, and not enough full frame models, especially full frame models that cost less than $2,000.

Yes, it was.

It is the same type of sensor but with faster reading capabilities. There was never a chance for 1.3 crop or FF.

No.

Do D300/50D/A700 have bigger sensors?

See above. And I don't think that $1500 is too expensive.

Of course it was!!!

Everybody knows there will not be a FF sensor in Pentax for a looong time. So, it is probably going to be APS-C with the same 1.5x crop factor. Can be a new sensor or the K20D improved - in any case, an APS-C.

5, PRIME ---> PRIME 2
6, The noise control has 100% improvement ?

Not likely.

9, Functions from other rivals are included

May be a bit late nevertheless since the most important "function"

Bigger sensor is not a problem - neither a solution. Think of better AF system, more fps, etc.

10, THe price is around 150,000 to 160,000 Yen

That would make it a $1,500 camera. Good luck selling it if it has
an APS-C sized sensor.

I just don't get why the sensor size is so important. Let's wait and see the final results - the photos. Maybe it is worth $1,500.

11, THe delayed launch of DA 60-250 is due to the adjustment with new

I hope it'll be EXACTLY an APS-C replacemente for K20D. Of course, I also hope it to have other improvements (better AF, more fps, better video capabilities, better dynamic range, integrated GPS... you name it!) but the fact is that the KxxD is SUPPOSED to be where it is, not the consumer level, not the professional level.

I have a k20D. Forgetting the price problem, should I buy the K7 or wait for the k30D?

Jacques,

I think it's too soon to know that. Let's see "how good" K7 will be and where K30D will fit. Also, I'm not an early adopter (at least, not too early... lol). Let's wait someone review the camera, you can see the pros, the cons, the bugs (hope not!) and make a better decision.

Best regards,
Luis Eugenio

A professional hybrid DSLR with HD video.

No, it is a lower cost version of the new K. Same sensor as the new K, and on the whole same body with some buttons and dials removed. Replaces both the K200D and K20D.

The new K is a semi pro / professional body.

The "K30D" is Pentax new popular class body, to fill the big gap between new K and the K-m.

The new K7 is the more advanced model.

The "K30D" is a more consumer friendly lower cost version of the K7, with simplifed user interface and fewer buttons and dials. (much like the K200D is a combination of K10D and K100D, so will the new "K30D" be a K7 with K200D user interface).
