Photo to painting effect
I like what you are saying about this program, but I have an Epson 1400 dye type printer and would like to know if I can use it to simulated the watercolor and canvas features, papers and look?
I don't see why not. Just buy different papers for the effect.
For textures I use matte paper and put a sandstome texture on the image. They turn out very nice.
Give it a try
I have a crappy printer. So I don't print a lot at home. My stuff goes out to the pros..lolol
Canvas would look great
If you use dye, you cannot put different paper, but the DAP has the Real Canvas mode that overlay the paper or canvas texture over the picture in such way that when printed it actually look like the real thing.
I know because I bought watercolor paper, but my first image was by mistake one with an oil canvas setting superimposed over it - when I printed it it just totally looked like canvas - even on the watercolor paper. (Which made me thinking that I may save money on the canvas inkjet paper and simpluy use the watercolor for all.)
Anyhow, if you have the real paper/canvas, then uncheck the Real Canvas, but if you printing on regular paper leave it on.
They've come out with an update -- 1.3. Installs nicely over old version without asking for key etc. I'm liking it better and better as I become more familiar with it.
...posting the last entry to this fantastic thread. DAP is an awesome tool that I really to look forward to playing more and more as I use it. Kudos to the developers of it. Look forward to seeing the creation that others come up with from DAP as well.
