I have a 24mm TS-e and I wanted full frame

I have a 24mm TS-e and I wanted full frame, works great. On teh 1D series it has a 1.3x crop.

You have a d3 and a 1Ds2 both of which out perform the 5D in most cases.

And it is HIGHLY unlikely your 5D had the shutter fire only 100
times. There is no way to know how many actuations a 5D has.
Switching CF cards, having JPGs on a card from another camera,
formatting a CF card in another unit, etc. can switch the file number
set as the next file name.

Plus since EXIF only allows for 4 digits in the file name, the
numbering resets to 0001 after you hit 9999. It seems like the EXIF
standard should be updated to allow for 6 digits such as 020000.jpg
instead of 1234.jpg

From my friend, she had 2 of them and a 1 series

This camera sat, she only took it out to do some test shots. She used her two other cameras. I also ran a actuation counter. The thing is brand new, knobs and buttons have barely been pressed.

MICHAEL_61, I don't need ALL the bells and whistles to outshoot many

I don't need all the bells and whistles to pay the bills and be happy shooting with the latest tech.

I ran 2 programs and the camera is pristine

There are several actuation counters available for download. I ran 2 programs and they told me the same number. Plus the camera pristine and I bought it from my friend how has too many cameras and not enough time.

Re: I ran 2 programs and the camera is pristine

With respect to your statement that "There are several actuation counters available for download," I would be grateful if you could provide me with the links to those programs. My research (including on this forum) reveals that you can only get actual actuations of the shutter on 1D series Canon cameras, and NOT on the 5D (which has a counter that resets itself periodically to zero). So, if you in fact have stumbled upon a way to obtain actual actuations of a 5D, that would be awesome. I will await your reply!

  • Yes, really. What's so funny about it?

and one more thing> you don't have a "studio" .. you know it, I know
it ..

  • Of course I have a studio, those photos were shot in it:

as well as many others. I'm not pretending - I've got thousands of my photos published throghout the years. And you don't even seem to have a web-site. So there is no way of knowing if the standard of your work (assuming it exists) gives you the right to be a troll.

These worked for me, you mileage may vary.

As I said before, my friend bought it as a backup and used it less than a week. It is great when people upgrade.

Re: MICHAEL_61, I don't need ALL the bells and whistles to outshoot many

I am not going to debate image quality. I am debating usefulness and value. The 5d is a darn fine camera and making me happy as well as paying the bills.

There are people making tons of money of older cameras and completely happy.

Your attitude toward older cameras is pretty funny. I have current cameras also, I just don't need to run out after the latest and greatest.

Re: why did you buy a 5D? Because I know the seller

Amazing how fast and skeptical people are around here. I bought it from a friend, she has 3 cameras, this one has so little use that the buttons and wheel barely have been turned.

She upgraded, I win. Plus the D3 and 1D series doesn't do what a full frame 5D does for my 24MM TS-e. I sold the 1dS2 an got a 1D3 and now the 5D makes my 24mm TS-e a happy camper. I forgot to update my gear list.

No wonder I took a break from posting

I have not posted in a few months and one thread and now it all comes back to me. I stopped posting and just shot because these forums have many devolve it into gear obsession threads. I post about a 5D and told that it is old and useless. Maybe I should do it again and go have fun with my "museum and terrible IQ" 5D and other not the latest cameras. Wow.

about what I do for a living but what you do for a living

since you said that you are a "professional"

now there is nothing wrong being an amateur or enthusiast and chanting the new gadgets and declaring the 5D a "museum" camera (like amateurs and enthusiasts do).

The problem is that you said that you shoot professionally and in that case you better be prepared to face the music.

Agree, did the same thing

Grabbed a nice shape 5D & 24-70 for $1300 (I guess that puts me at around $600+ - for the 5D)
