Some SP-590 pics

Hi!

Got my new camera 2 days ago and want to share my first pics. All pics are handheld and straight out from the camera. The pics I took was what the memorycard that came with the camera could hold. Today.. I finally have access to my other memorycards so it´ll be a really fun weekend.

Enjoy!

Olyvia

All pics in a rar file:

Re: Some SP-590 pics

Thank you very much. I look forward to other pics.

How does it compare to other cameras you have/have tried? I am still uncertain about the Oly SP-590, the Panasonic FZ28, and the Pentax X70. I think they are all rather similar, but since I don't plan to keep that camera for at least 5 years, I want to make sure I buy the very best.

No RAW?

Hi, thanks for the pics. Do you confirm that it doesn't shoot RAW, as it says on dpreview specifications?
Thanks a lot

Re: Some SP-590 pics

Nice pictures. You seem to have captured and succeeded in conveying the feeling and the pale, rather cold colours of the swedish spring quite well.

Where are the pictures taken?

Re: Some SP-590 pics

Thanks for posting these - a lot of users in this forum are interested in finding out about the SP-590's output.

If these are straight out of the camera JPEG, with all other in-camera on default (factory) settings, then the results are encouraging. But I think there are a number of things you can do to improve the tone, colour and sharpness.

The ultazoom cameras take some time to get used to. So do please post more examples once you've become a bit more familiar with the machine.

re:

Hi!

Compared to the other cameras I have owned which is Olympus and Canon cameras I think it´s very good. I´m keeping it! I used tripod for all of my latest pictures except for the macro pics. I forgot to bring my mini-tripod for them.

I haven´t found out how to shoot with raw but then I haven´t read the whole manual yet so I can´t say it´s not possible just yet.
My latest shooting had the settings +1 sharpness, +1 contrast and auto mode.

Also, I must mention, that the first pictures I posted was shot in normal instead of fine mode, so they aren´t the best quality.

First pictures was from Perstorp and these pictures is from Ängelholm, Klippan and Ljungbyhed.

Enjoy!

I've read the manual from front to back, and investigated all the menus and can't find anything about RAW. If you find it let me know!

You mentioned you used a tripod on some of your shots. Did you disable IS? Have you tested it on a tripod with IS on and off to see if there's a difference? I haven't had a chance to do that yet.

Thanks,

re:

In the manual it says like this..

SPECIFICATIONS

Still pictures: Digital recording, JPEG (in accordiance with Design rule for Camera File system (DCF)

Applicable standards: Exif 2.2, Digital print Order Format (DPOF), PRINT Image Matching III, Pictbridge

I used image stabilisation for all of my pics and I haven´t tried to photograph without it.

Thank you very much! Nice photos!

How do you think the color are? I think that Canon has nice colors. Are they as good? Do they reflect reality? In particular, how are the reds? In a small experiment I did ( http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1008&message=31491588 ) the reds didn't do very well.
