1dmk111 joke

Canon uk have returned my 2 1dmk3 bodies via UPS and used the cheapest service available. The cameras were dispatched on Friday last and will not be delivered to Ireland until at least Thursday. Canon are paying for an overland service. Today Tuesday the cameras are still in the UK. This service stinks. I hope the repairs are of a higher standard.
When I eventully receive the cameras I will post the results.

A problem which was supposed to be fixed 1 year ago CANON what a joke!!

And was there anything constructive in your OP ?

Since you can't do anything but wait, instead of complaining at Rick, laugh about his humor...

Re: 1dmk111 joke

Canon will only reply to your registration after approx 4 days.
UPS who canon uk are using are taking 3-4 days to reach uk or uk to ireland.

I think Canon uk are paying for the most basic of services which means overland and then ' float the cameras across the irish sea '

When I purchased the 1dmk3's last year I expected all focussing issues to be sorted not have to be involved in this fiasco for a so called final fix.

This post seems to have upset a few canon fanboys and fangirls.
Nikon seems closer DAY BY DAY

At least it was funny, and not ...

... mean spirited. If you have several bodies, why send them all at once? If you have spares, why complain about the slow transport?

A "joke" would be if Canon did NOTHING. But they've worked on this issue continuously since it first cropped up. We'll know shortly if it works 100% of the time. (Some cameras DID work fine from day one. I borrowed one, but I couldn't buy it!)

You mean: "But they've denied this issue continuously since it first cropped up."

No Trouble Found, Meets Specs, Tested & Cleaned, Working as Designed, Suspect Lens, We haven't heard of any problems, Nobody else is reporting problems, There was some initial problems limited to a few bodies - but those were all resolved, ...

I realize you had a traumatic experience with your 1D purchase, but don't you think it's time to move on?

Has Canon apologized to all the owners who they made suffer through the AF problems they tried to bury?

I'm sure not all of them, but maybe if you give Canon a call, they will apologize to you for all the suffering you went through.

The joke is a company is still trying the fix a top of the line pro camera after two years it was release, fix after fix, promise after promise, and now still TRYING to fix it.

the bigger joke is some faboy still saying they did a great job.

Re: lol, good one! nt

A joke/humour would be funny if a person had not foolishly invested 9500 GBP in Canon professional cameras and lens. The 1dmk3 cameras have had issues since launch and I dont appreciate that we the pro customers should be good humoured that Canon are STILL trying to fix the many flaws with this camera.

Again with substantial investement in working tools that are still requiring recalls the time for leeway or good humour is far gone.

Re: 1dmk111 joke

Hi

Just sent off my two bodies and six L lenses today via UPS who were supposed to collect them last Thursday.

This is my 3rd (and final) attempt to have the AF problem fixed. They applied the AF/err99 fix just before Xmas, no improvement whatsoever, I know it's supposed to fix the outer focus points, but my main problem is the centre point which is really soft, even stopped down to f8 on a 24-70 f2.8L. So I'm having the cameras and lenses 'matched.'

This have been one hell of a process.

My 1D3...

Hi there,

I dont want to put gas on the fire... but I have been there myself. The 1D3 cost me about £1000 in lost value, as I had to resale it.

My lession learned is to stick to proven technology and not trust the RD/Marketing sellers.

Canon, I will stick to my 1DSII and 1DII N for a long period ahead.

Kind regards

Michael
