ISO400 Doesn't look bad

I must admit, ISO400 doesn't look bad for a P&S. Wonder what 800 looks like.

Re: ISO400 Doesn't look bad

Agree, the grain structure looks very nice, and I opened it in Noise Ninja and it cleaned up VERY nicely.

Wonder what the 6MP looks like.

Re: ISO400 Doesn't look bad

It doesn't, though I'm surprised they don't have one sample at ISO800, specially since the new sensor is said to bring better high ISO capabilities. Wait and see I guess.

Not parting with my F31 in any case

It looks bad

In absolute terms it's okay, but where's the revolution? ISO400 in 6MP doesn't look good when compared to old designs like f30... These samples make me think - just another marketing slogans with no real improvement in quality behind this.

Where's the revolution you ask? You kidding?

Look at the high dynamic range shot. Get that to LightRoom/Aperture/LightZone/Photoshop whatever and play with it. See how much data there is...

Did anyone see they scatter around in the low light part of sample or just me?.

Usual cop out samples

Sadly the Usual cop out samples - 1:- Portraits and macros make any camera look good - heck, most phones, waterproof Olys or the Ricoh R10 even look good there 2:- sorta snowy landscapes with no detail in ..

I'm sure the cam is better than the F100 but they're not willing to risk showing what it can do - proper landscapes with grass in, long range city scenes etc show up excessive NR - scenes with blue skies show up noise - these are what I'd like to see..

BTW I'm sure my F30 is better at ISO400 than that portrait - the G10 certainly is at ISO400 reduced to 6Mp

The camera that took that picture had a filthy lens so who knows what else was wrong with it. Fuji has never been very good at selecting sample images.

Re: Fuji F200 Sample Photos

Not bad..but need to see more to get worked up about it!

DR looks not bad at all

Though the ISO 400 one was decent, it's easy enough to get an ok shot in that light.

Re: Fuji F200 Sample Photos

Do the manual controls allow the selections of ISOs below 100? There is still noise at ISO 100, so being able to select say ISO 50 would be a significant advantage.

My take

It looks rather good IMHO, though official samples rarely mean much. If the price is right, this cam might FINALLY be the replacement for my F10 (the original design! IMHO the F11/30/31 were just minor evolutions).

  • The DR looks very good -- as an S3 pro user, I'm sold by this feature alone, if independent reviews eventually prove it to be more than a marketing gimmick. I already know it will beat the F10's abysmal DR

  • Can't say I'm blown away by the sharpness of the High-res shots though... The lens might not be as good as the F10's.

  • High ISOs look OK, if somewhat overprocessed. I'm not overly picky about noise levels though.

Long live the SuperCCD!

not much to see there imo...

the 12MP ones look very good at 6mp, the hi ISO ones look OK, the hi-DR ones have some strange (demosaicing?) artifacts. I do not see much improvement over other Fuji P&S cams, guess the only advantage is the extended DR which comes at the cost of other aspects of image quality. Maybe it's the samples - looking forward to more.
