Re: Image Sample

I still have my G3 and my 1.75X converter as well. I completely forgot about Lensmate (senior moment) and purchased the LA-DC58K for my G10. The 1.75X screws directly into the LA-DC58K and seems to work fine.

"Silver Tongued Devil" is available in that new-fangled format?

Yes, apparently so...

Unfortunately, I don't remember where I found it. :-/

But it's labeled CBS Special Products, 1988 CBS Records, Inc. (although I know the original is many years older than that).

Aha...

Re: Image Sample

I'm wondering if Canon is pushing the new 1.4x simply to eliminate some of the vignetting associated with the 2x (vignetting that's even slightly more pronounced with the G10 compared to the G9). Well...that, and they want to sell more products to the same buyers...

But if you look at the 2x as more or less like adding a tele-converter to a prime lens, it does just about the same job (that is, with a leap from 140mm to near the 280mm mark before vignetting is no longer a factor).

Re: Image Sample

I haven't checked Canon's G10 site, but usually they just show the current add-on. I was surprised by Lensmate's statement of incompatibility, however. After we're sure that our teleconverters work, we should email them. I certainly will after I've tested my 1.75x. It is a real advantage be able to carry forward an investment in accessories. In addition to the teleconverter, I'll be able to use the remote cable from my Elan II and a couple of flashes.

Re: More Photos of the Lensmate G10 Adapter Parts

Hi, just wondering if there are any new ideas on the Canon TC-DC58C(2x). I have an opportunity to buy a used one for $100, & wondering if it's worth it. I have an adapter coming for a Super Macro, so I will have that soon. Just wondering about vignetting. I am quite new to the photo hobby, so any ideas would be appreciated.
I do have a G10
Thanks

Re: More Photos of the Lensmate G10 Adapter Parts

I would also be interested in how this worked out for the G10 using the Canon TC-DC58C (2x) lens. I have the G9 with this tele converter, as well as the Canon WC-DC58B wide converter (.75x) lens. I was wondering whether these lenses would work on a G11, if I were to upgrade to that model. The complicated adapter tubes for the G10/G11 made it seem like they would not. The G9 uses only one adapter tube for everything.

Yes, this works. The new Lensmate G10 adapter set will accommodate the Canon TC-DC58C 2x Tele-Converter.

The Lensmate G10 adapter comes in three parts, typically used as A+B or A+C.

If you couple the A+C Lensmate G10 adapter parts, the Canon 2x Tele-Converter attaches to it perfectly.

There is vignetting unless the G10 lens is zoomed almost fully out, but not at the farthest two telephoto steps -- so you can get a vignette-free 280mm telephoto from this combination. This is almost exactly the same functionality as with the G9, where you get vignetting at all but the farthest three steps of the zoom. (Of course, it won't zoom as far at the G9 with the 2x converter, but performs similarly to the G9 in terms of zoom steps that vignette or don't vignette.)

With my recently bought G10, this was the info I was looking for, for the past few weeks.

Sadly the picture links are - after 15 years - all broken and there is too little infomration about the 'Lensmate G10 adapter' you mentioned so that I can't really find it on the internet.

Do you or someone else still have the info I am looking for?

Thanks in advance

John
