d3x price starting to go down a bit in Japan

Can now be had for 768.000 Yen without negociation, down from 799.000 Yen yesterday.

Still too high, but it might be OK in a week from now if it keeps going down a the same pace.

Cheers,
Bernard

Still going down...

5 hours later, it is now at 762,800 Yen.

As far as I know, such a quick drop is un-precedented for a Nikon DSLR release in Japan, this now 6200 Euro.

Bernard

Yet a tiny bit lower

Now at 761,900 from online retailers:

The large stores are still at 898.000 Yen - 10% points = 808,000 Yen.

Re: Now at 759,900 Yen...

Not to hijack the thread but the D700 is now down to 213,000 and change. I just hope this does not lead Nikon into the waters that Toyota is now swimming in.

It's Too Late For Me & Nikon Didn't Get Any Of My Money This Holiday Season, :-)

Bernard Languillier:

1. As, the cash I was going to spend on a D3X --- I just spent on a Leica M8.2 and a couple of Leica M lenses (roughly $10,000, USD, total). Leica, will now be getting more of my money, and Nikon less of it......

2. Hobbyists, such as myself, have a lot of choices besides Nikon ----- and, do not like being "played with" as seems to be going on with Nikon's pricing versus worth and lack of features/innovation of the D3X (IMO).

3. For, those that want a quality high MP Body, the Leica S2 System, with the S2 Body 37.5 MP sensor appears to be a good alternative to either Nikon, Sony or Canon, here's a link to more info:

BRJR ....(LOL, some of us are quite satisfied as Hobbyists ..)

Not too sure about that decision. For what it is worth...

D3x NZ price

Here in New Zealand the D3x is being listed at NZ$21,200 plus a free 8gb card!!! On Trademe (our version of ebay) they are selling for NZ$16,000!! Not that the retailers have any available, whereas the Trademe seller has a couple in stock (a reputable seller too).

Admittedly our dollar has dropped from US80c to 52, but it's still a hell of a price.
The D3 is retailing for NZ$7,900 and 5D2 for NZ$4,595.

Cheers

Very valid point

For half of the price of the 'highly collectible' Leica + lenses, I think I would have picked up an A900, the CZ 24-70 and made sure that I really needed that much resolution to begin with.

Seems all of the higher end DSLRs are destined to become obsolete in the near future according to KR. Of course he was just saying recently that a $10.00 disposable film camera beats anything digital. I wonder if he types faster than he thinks?

Re: d3x price starting to go down a bit in Japan

i don't now if somebody ah seen this

http://www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk/2230/Nikon-D3x-Digital-SLR-Camera-Body-.html

it's 5500 euro..at this price the camera is far competitive.

i'm apentax user who work with pentax, a bit strange:)). next year i'd like to add a nikon kit, 2 body and 2/3 lenses for pj and when i need a more consistent af, and keep my pentax everything else. clearly if price will go down , i'm seriously considering this camera. My dream is a medium forma camera, so let's see how prices will behave next year. clearly i pay in euro and a this point euro people are far more comfortable with prices.

That is still more expensive than here in Australia at $12350 Aud GST included

If you buy from here they take the GST of the price, making the camera around $11,200 Aud. 1 English pound is close to $2.40 Au.

Re: Now at 759,900 Yen...

Hello Bernard,

No, unfortunately not, otherwise I would start a camera business for sure! It's even hard for me to order camera and accesoires for my family here by this way.

Actually if I want to buy the camera for that price, I cannot not buy it myself, I pay it and the actual buying is done by my brother in law.

Michel
