This seems out of character for Nikon
employees to be so free wheeling with information. This is not even
an evolutionary camera body, this could be revolutionary. It seems
doubtful that Nikon service reps would avow any knowledge. Unless of
course, they have given their 2 weeks notice and are going down in a
blaze of glory, but I doubt it. I guess we'll find out November 20th
or in February!

Actually it is pretty likely that they have a 2 weeks notice prior to announcement, whatever the announcement is.

Re: ...think Tupac... I gotta Bridge named Brooklyn...

You might be wrong on that.

If they come with an MX sensor design that can do FX crop mode, then that would be an highly valuable camera for most 35mm users today.

Specially when it comes to fashion photography.

Just assuming the rumor pertains to a DSLR that also can use FX
lenses in a crop mode. This means a break-through in the design of
the reflex mirror, perhaps literally! Thus multiple swing-away
mirrors? Very improbable...

In a way, something like this?

It could be an elaborate scheme of mis-information.

What you propose Nikon might be doing would be deceptive business practices, and as such would make them legally liable. Not a chance in heck that Nikon is doing that. It would be reckless and completely out of character for a company that is intensely lawsuit averse.

The tech support staff? Are you kidding? Nikon subsidiary marketing departments often don't know any details until announcement, especially if the announcement is really just that, and not a product ship. Tech support is one of the last trained on a new product.

What makes this rumor unbelievable is that nothing about it seems to follow the leak norms those of us who've followed Nikon for decades know. Leaks do not come out of tech support first (or for that matter, advertising). This has to do with how Nikon is organized, how decisions are made, and how they're communicated down the pipeline in the company.

Moreover, that an employee would put her job 100% at risk makes this more suspicious than usual. Let me put it this way: the OP has provided enough information that if I were in charge of Tech Support at Nikon I'd be able to identify who that person was, would have checked to see if the assertion of what was talked about in that conversation was true, and would have fired her if she did have a one-hour conversation speculating about a future product (real or not).

Re: DPReview is Entertainment - reader beware

ahhh Michel...

yes it is a fun forum indeed. so I'll play along

..I've noticed from your previous posts leading up to offical Nikon Announcements.. that you seem to be privy to new Nikon product info, more so than other esteemed forum members so much so, that i usually scan the rumor posts and look for your cleverly worded comments..I say clever not in a negative sense, but in a fun, sort of crossword puzzle sense

..so your last "clue", if i read it correctly, was the announcement(Nov.20) will be good news for ALL Nikon users?? not specific to any particular camera?? correct??....

puzzles are fun
