Re: New 5d mkii pic on Northlight.

That looks pretty convincing, especially the flared detail around the buttons. 5D badge is a little shiny, though...

From what I was told there would eventually be two FF cameras, and one would 'built so you hammer nails in with it'.

This looks like it, the direct D3 competitor, though if it doesn't get a built in grip, I suppose that's to keep it one step down from the 1D family.

This has been a very useful site in the run up to the new Canons.

I think the D3 competitor is the 1D3.
I think the 5D2 will be a D700 competitor just with more MPs.

Re: Sigh....

Mmmm....

Well I've used both, because I am ready to completely upgrade my system. The D3's ability at 6400asa is in another league to the Canon.

The pics I took with the D3 of a well-know singer/songwriter (in a very dark arena) are now in her hands and she is delighted. Full-time photographers at the media group I work at (who are currently using D300s) were just blown away.

However, I'm hanging on for the new Canons because Canon has a much better FF lens line-up than Nikon. If they can match the D3 at 6400, then Canon will probably get the nod.

Judging by the latest 'moon shot', it seems this Northlight picture is the real deal. At least now know what the camera looks like.

This siler button looks very cheap and ugly.
It can't be true.

however the part of the body just below the prism and behind the lens (on the oof side shot above) seems to me curved in different way that it would be indicated by the recent moon shot extraction (tha part on the moon shot is evenly overexposed while it looks like it should be curved at that area. However the moon shot can be altered (artificially overexposed) in order to hide some details yet.

Must have never used a 1d3.. Every bit the match for the D3 @ iSO 6400..

D3 better controlled chroma noises
Mk3 better detail chroma noise easily fixed in mk3, detail in D3 not so easy....

I agree with Keith. I think the lens is the new 35 f1.4L II. Damn, I've only recently bought the Mk I.

I like the silver shutter button, will make it easier to find in the dark. Would be nice if it had a blue apple glow if you pressed the backlit button :-).

Interesting that the other pics of the new camera on that site have a black shutter button. I agree with the previous poster - the silver one looks cheap IMO.

You know how this will end, right?

The moon will slowly get bigger only to reveal...drumroll please...a full silhouette of some camera! It will be the largest single cause of aneurisms in recorded history.
