New D-LUX 4

The new D-LUX 4 is announced at 699 euros in the French photo magazine Chasseur d'Images number 307 page 12 (with a picture of it).

Can somebody in this forum explain to me what will be the difference(s) between the Panasonic LX3 and the Leica D LUX4, based on your experience of the Leica D-LUX 3 versus the Pana LX2?
Many thanks in advance.

On internet you have only the previous issue of the magazine.
I have a scan of the Leica. Where, how should I post it?

Re: New D-LUX 4

you have to upload it to a site like flickr or somewhere you can host a picture, then copy the adress of it and paste it on your thread.

Leica DLUX4

The picture was sent to your email box.
I don't want to create a flickr account or another one just for that.

Re: Leica DLUX4

@JimRockford.
Could you please upload it somewhere and supply a link.

Even if it's gonna be quite a lot more expensive, I sure would prefer the Leica if it looks good/better.
Thx.

Congrats on being the first one to break the big news, arinel! You deserve some sort of medal for sure.

As usual, Leica version looks MUCH nicer than the Lumix. No grip, of course, 'cause that's not the Leica way. I'll always take a nice smooth black slab with the red dot over a chunky grip anyday (well, at least for a pocket camera). Who cares if it's impossible to hold?

All I know is, I want one now!

Text mentions a C-LUX 3 also. Based on one of the FX-Panasonics? Isn't the current one C-LUX 2?

Heehee, trust Leica to spot a place to bleed more money:

" Håndgrepet gjør kameraet lettere å holde. Håndgrepet make the camera easier to hold"

Niiice. Remove the grip, and then make it an accessory. Genius.

Re: **** here is the picture d-lux 4 ****

looks good eh, if it all seems to be as good as the d-lux 3 with no teething probs I may get one in a years time when they start trickling down to the s/h market, the 24mm would just be too good to pass up, also the hot shoe, could use it with my strudio lights, awesome. enjoy....paul ps WELL DONE aerial for being the first with a pic....

arinel, in the future, try TinyPic: http://tinypic.com

No need to create an account, simply download an image from your files, copy the URL that ends with .jpg, paste the link in your message here and, voila!

Kind regards,

Re: **** here is the picture d-lux 4 ****

Thx for posting the pic (a.o.) Jim.
Gotta say I fell in love with that Leica/Panny D-Lux 4 already.
So 'smooth' looking, professional ... simply Leica !

I always loved Leica for this (unobstructive) look and to me that alone is worth the extra $$$.
YMMV though

BTW that new Nikon D90 is also so appealing ... it looks like an attack on my bank-account.

Re: New D-LUX 4

Sure its no Fake?? Can´t see any grip. I asume it should have one, not the same as the panny´s, but something similar. The panny Lx2 and D Lux3 are identical. This change on the grip would require a complete redisgn inside..

Re: New D-LUX 4

Happy that you got the picture.

I would be very surprised if it was a fake because "Chasseur d'images", the magazine which published the photo is the most well-known photo magazine in France.
That would be a disastrous publicity for them.

They also describe briefly the new M8.2, as well as 3 Noctilux and the first Leica Digital Projector (Pradovit D-1200).
