1st Images with 500mm VR

Took the new 500mm VR out Saturday morning to the rookery. Most of the birds have left for this season with just a few scattered about and mainly some immatures hanging around. I didn't take any with just the 500mm but I did shoot with all 3 of the nikon TCs.
Camera used was the D200

Re: 1st Images with 500mm VR

Awesome captures and technique.

Your work inspires me to improve my technique. I have the Nikon 300 II 2.8 and have trouble just getting clean no movement shots at really high shutter speeds.

Thanks for (once again) sharing your shots and enthusiasm.

Regards

DA

You... are... killing me.... softly.

Maann..... awesome awesome Pixes! Excellent PP skills too!

I just can NOT wait to have my order to arrive, my live is toooo short to wait for Nikon to deliver mine. It has been 97 days...... and counting.

I am wondering what kind of rituals that Nikon has to do to make that lens sooo long.

Proves my D200...

Proves my D200 is not outdated yet!..

These are simply sublime pics. My life long desire is a lens of this ilk, some time off and to couple it with skills as good as yours.... maybe one day!

Re: 1st Images with 500mm VR

nice shooting Ronnie, can you tell us what you used to stabilize the lens?

I assume at that distance and Focal length you weren't hand holding the camera and lens

When reading the subject...

... I thought "oh no, not again a camera box, dog, cat, whatever, shot with an expensive new lens", and was about to skip it. However, when I noticed the poster's name next to the title, I immediately clicked to see what was in there. And I was not disappointed.

Great shots! Wish you good luck with the new lens (and keep us updated on how well it works for dragonfly macros with that ultra-extreme background selectivity ).

It's the person, lens, equipment, object (not necessary in this order) made this wonderful piece. It's the priceless advertisement for Nikon imaging group. I see no reason why Nikon won't give you a free D700... Thanks for sharing.
