Split The Forum TODAY-No More M4/3 Here

Sorry, but micro 4/3 is not a dslr, so why should it be included here?

Isn't that what the NEWS forum is for? .... or the Olympus talk?

I don't want to hear about another weenie camera that may do this and that..... if I want one I'll buy a p&s .

Blah blah blah ........................

Olympus Talk Forum is EXACTLY the place to discuss non-mirror reflex cameras. Plus you to make great friends, learn a bit of technique through posted examples and enjoy a warm atmosphere. OTF is THE Friendliest forum on the internet - and that's no idle boast!

In a few days or a week the forum will be the same as before, when everyone will calm down. Until first EVIL will be announced or any other exiting news from Oly

Friendliest forum?

That's great to hear... I'll look forward to visiting when the first micro 4/3rds products appear. It's funny, the Panasonic Talk forum was also really friendly.

Maybe p&s users are less uptight?

Kind Regards

Brian

If the OTF avoids the fragile egos of this forum, it'll be a pleasure transferring.

Oh dear....

Seems like this m4/3 good news has touched some Olympus users up in the wrong way. But many existing Oly’ DSLR user forum members are interested in talking about it in the forum they regularly use, plus this new system will also be using DSLR lenses too.

Should users with Sigma or Leica/Panasonic lenses only just post in their respective maker’s forums too?

Re: Split The Forum TODAY-No More M4/3 Here

1) In terms of actual forum usage, this is the place for u4/3 talk. This is the technical forum, Oly Talk is the picture forum. Like it or lump it, that is the way the two forums are used.

2) The interchangeable lens feature puts u4/3 far more in common with SLR cameras than lacking a mirror puts it in common with compacts. This is the Olympus system forum

3) The speculation will die down in a day or two anyway once the bits and pieces have been discussed out. Stop putting up what are frankly unwarranted threads trying to shut the generally good discussions that are going on down.

4) The suggestion to take your whining to the cry baby forum was a good hint.

The OTF is a great place to spend time, but not if you want to discuss speculative or technical matters. For all its faults (and fragile egos), this forum is the place to find the best robust speculation and technical discussion.

No, not necessarily so. The forum is what it is .

This forum is just another slice of social life....... and as much as people want to express their enthusiasm for the m4/3, I'm expressing my un-enthusiasm for it.

There's no right or wrongs here ..... no absolutes. Expressions take on many forms ..... here its words even more than photos.

There's all kinds of people here from infinite backgrounds. I may not like what someone else says, or what others say .... and that's certainly ok and good.

Life without expression is ..... well, no life at all is it?

Thanks for commenting.

Sure, it may be of intewrest

but when 35 of the most recent 60 threads are either about mFT, stop the mFT or should we split/rename the board because of mFT, it does seem out of hand.
Over 50% would seem to justify a separate board

Maybe it is the place , maybe it is not. It's not ultimately up to us to decide that since it is not our website.

Yes, the speculation will die down some eventually. I respect your opinion, but I don't post many threads. Are you implying I'm trying to shut down threads? If you are, you're very off base.

This is no different than all the threads that are raving about m4/3.

I am insulted by your #4. That's ok though, it's my owm sh!t and I can deal with it. Take a look in the mirror. I've never met someone who uses labels on people who didn't exhibit that very behavior themselves.

You want it real? I'm keeping it real.

Respectfully , Garth

On the other hand

we're running at about 3-4 hrs for a thread to get pushed to page 2, which is normal volume...

Actually, Garth, your initial post in this thread very much gives that impression. What was your point if not to shut down discussion of m4/3 here?

Of course you are entitled to that opinion and I think referring to you as a 'cry baby' was a bit much.

I'm quite interested in m4/3, and I think discussion is quite appropriate among Olympus DSLR enthusiasts. The most annoying thing at the moment is that since we know almost nothing about the new system the forums are filled with idle speculation from a variety of self-proclaimed experts in camera design/marketing. Hopefully most of that will die down when real hardware is announced (but I doubt it).

Steve

OTOH you could just not read the threads when they come up..

Your post is a PRIME example of why some people avoid this forum like the plague.
