I just tested the sandisk extreme pro 32gb in my 7D.
format worked, the display says 2546 photos remaining in raw+jpg. With 16GB card it says 1273.
No issue whatsoever, the 32GB works.

Let us know when you've got 2546 images on the card .

Even though the camera formats the card and says it'll hold that much , people have had the problem that once it's got a certain amount on it , it doesn't store any more .

So it seems to be working fine untill you get home and can't transfer the full days shoot to your computer .

You can review, but can't transfer? That sounds more like a problem with the card reader or the OS of the computer.

That's where the problem is .

Whether this affects all cards is unknown .

I don't think the person who said that could review either .

I think the camera kept "taking" photos , but they were not saved to the card .

I have a fully working Dynax 7d and a 32GB card , but life's too short to see it'll save 2500 images on the card or only 1200 or so !

The CF cards I use in my Minolta cameras are all 8GB or less , that's enough , and they give no problems .

I have the camera, but I don't think I have any CF cards that big.

You could try simply copying a large file or set of files to the card in a computer and then see if the camera can correctly use the remaining free space.

I formated the 32GB card in the 7D (29.8GB free) and copied 25GB of raws (all the raws I took with that camera since 2005!!!) from my catalog.
Then I could take some photos, review them, and copy them from the card to the hard drive.
This sandisk extreme pro 32 is the only 32GB card I have, so I can't say what would happen with another brand.
I did quite the same with 2 sandisk ultra 16GB: it also worked flawlessly.

It's just some glass, some silicon and magnesium. It isn't a religion.

Re: Maxxum 5D, 7D max CF card size

From long time research, the SanDisk brand memory card is the most counterfeited memory card out there. 32 gb and above have been found fraudulent. below that are not suspect because they are so cheap no Chinese company would put an effort in to counterfeiting them. SanDisk even had a website to identify counterfeits, that to the naked eye looked perfect including the packaging. For several years Ebay was selling counterfeit memory cards. The Feds got involved and Ebay purged all the vendors who were selling them. Millions of these cards were confiscated in the Port of San Francisco .

If you are using a 4 K camera in Video mode 32gb is not useless but on a 7D it is dangerous to put all you eggs in one basket. Id rather have 2 or three 8 GB.

On my fully functioning Minolta 7D all Ive ever used was 8 GB.
