MS ...

... If you set the camera to Long Period (Continuous), then review is off. For single shots just don't hold the shutter down :

I use this mostly now.

Great shots. Proof that the photographer is often more important than the camera in achieving a great photograph - not that the camera is below par - I own a S6500 but I don't often produce shots as good as those.

Also, have to agree on the manual focus ring - next to useless - except for macro work on a tripod. And how do you manually focus on infinity? Fujifilm should look at a decent manual control like the one on the Sigma DP1. Alright, I know that its not on the lens barrel but it is fast (faster than the Fuji one anyway) and it has graduations on the wheel.

One question, did you PP with any noise reduction on the ISO200 shots inside the gallery? I can see noise in these shots although it does not detract from the image itself.

Cheers

Nice work, the camera is really good, the only thing to regret is the PF and CA, but the SLR cheap lens also have it, as other compact cameras.

PF is really a lot, but ok, maybe Fuji take care of this on the next similar camera

Yes, but only chromatic noise (NeatImage). I kind of like the luminance noise pattern of this camera, so I don't want to trade resolution for lower noise.

Re: Sorry ...

Great shots, esp the statue face one.

I know you use Pentax slrs. What advantage do you see, if any, in the fuji compared with 100/200d plus one of the new 18-250 zooms?

thanks

Re: Fujifilm Finepix S100FS: first impressions and images.

I have downloaded some test shots of RAW images from ISO100 to 800 and compared them with my S6500 and I have to say that there is little difference between them at ISO 800 - only the nature of the noise is different. The S6500 has more chroma noise but less luminance noise. However, at ISO 100 I think that S100 has the edge and I think that it comes down to lower noise circuitry (A/D conversion?) in the S100.

So, which ever way you look at it, Fuji is still king of the low noise field in non-DSLR cameras.

Cheers
