Re: Rikenon 50mm f2 vs XR Rikenon 50mm f2

Take a look here:
http : www .pbase.com/steephill/mtf_data

These old lenses aren't bad at all...

I own a Ricoh XR Rikenon 50mm F2 L ( 1985). It's pretty good i think (don't own a Pentax version, so no compare). Read somewhere that the Ricoh version is as good as the Pentax version... but... no SMC, so use it with a hood to prevent flare.

Be aware of the 'P' versions: they have the famous extra pin that get's stuck in the AF coupler...

Btw: there is info on this forum about the Ricoh 50mm lenses: A year ago I posted info i found about them. Do a search...

Re:

Found it:
(I posted this 16 April 2007)

There are three versions of Ricoh lenses:

  • the 'normal' version

  • the 'L' version (it says 'L' on the front of the lens: better IQ than

the normal version, probably multi coated)

  • the 'P' version (it says 'P' on the front of the lens, and has a

'auto aperture pin' where Pentax has the AF coupler: like the
L version, but with 'Ricoh Auto Aperture')
