5D Mark II

My apologies to all. My source was obviously wrong, though I believe he was convinced of what he was saying.

I'm not going to stick around to reads your flames, but for those who can gracefully accept my apology, I sincerely offer it.

Re: Amazon believes that it is coming by this fall...

It's definitely coming this fall. The reason is because I'm planning to buy a 5D after months of debating and searching for the best price. Now that I'm about to pull the trigger, the 5D II will be anounced. Same thing happened when I bought my 10D.

Maybe Charlotte K. Lowrie actually has one if she is going to write about it and have something in print when it is released.

it might even come tommorow

For I got my 5D from amazon yesterday. I can tell you this much, the 5D is far superior to my skill levels... ;-). This is one beautiful camera and if you can pull a good deal on it (but the kit + printer, sell the lens + printer), you can get it ~$1.5k

Will the improved 5D be priced

Re: Amazon believes that it is coming by this fall...

If this book is genuine,

I think the 5D2 will be out well before Charlotte K. Lowrie's book!

Her book on the 450D won't be published until August and yet the 450D was announced January 2008

Well yes her 450D book will be realeased in August 2008

But her book for 5D original (not mark 2) was released resently on April 2008

but for sure she is specialist for Canon
maybe Canon made a conract with her for many years in future
for her ability

I understand how you would be feeling now. At least you had the guts to start a thread to accept that your prediction was wrong. I think this was the first time some one did that in this forum.

Looks like Lowrie has a canon contract

She has a bunch of canon books coming out this Spring and summer, including a book on the 5D (original version):

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-EOS-Digital-Field-Guide/dp/0470174056/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1211715890&sr=1-3
being released this APril 28th.

It is an interesting choice - to write a book about a camera which is generally believed to be on the verge of obsolescence. Perhaps she feels that the scads of upgraders springing for a 5D now will still be likely to buy the book, or alternatively she believes that canon will continue to make / sell the original 5D going forward after the mark II is released.

well if you are planning to buy a 5d after months of debating then the 5d mkII * MUST * be coming out. Canon marketing is waitng for you to make that purchase!

This has even more credibility when you consider the fact that the same thing happened when you bought your 10d...

so yep..with these irrefutable peices of hard facts, the 5d mkII is definatly coming out in the fall...

Let's bet.... Where did she get the source of 5D II

If that's so, now it's easy to guess, where did she get the source materials for her next book of 5DmkII

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Mark-Digital-Field-Guide/dp/0470409509/

She must have something in hands
And it must be from Canon
I don't believe it is from Nikon ;D

Canon gave her the source materials

Perhaps you were correct...

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Mark-Digital-Field-Guide/dp/0470409509/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1211715890&sr=1-9

it is not clear as to when this book was first "posted' on amazon, but it's possible that that latter part of last month might have been correct.

Amazon Listing is a publisher's error

There's a whole thread on this one.

Short version - the listing is a "dummy" placeholder record that accidentally got shifted to the public database. Both title and author are hypothetical.

Such things happen. There was actually a movie that used it as a plot device many years ago... I don't remember the title of the film, but the ficticious product was called "Vip".
